Re: A question about mainstream rpgs

the only way to navigate on the PlayStation store, for both PS3, PS4, and PS vita, is using your PC's web browser to purchase contents and you can push your purchased content directly to the PS3, PS4 or PS vita.for PS4 users, you can also buy games from your mobile device, using the playstation app installed on your iOS or android devices.

Re: A question about mainstream rpgs

@pulseman: if you want, you could try the demo first to see how playable the remake is.unfortunately, in the demo version, you can't try alchemy and cooking, it only demonstrates some of the new areas in the game, and some of the new skills for each character. it's pretty short, and the areas you will play is the same for all characters in the game.if you think that game is playable, then buy the full version, which costs around 60 dollars, or in my country, it costs around RP 615000. anyway, some tips for the 2 areas that has platforming.in the demo, you'll encounter 2 platforming areas, which is at the fourth and at the seventh area. the easier way to reach to the top is, press up and square, then do a double jump or tripple jump, or press right and hold the square button, that attack will make your character jump also. in that area, I recommend you to press the right and up arrow, cause at the end you'll encounter a door that you must enter
to reach the next area(area 7 only).if you fall down on the right, move back to the left while jumping, and do the thing that I've given above, which is press up and square, do a double jump, or hold down the square button.one more thing, about the door, which I forgot to mention in my earlier post. in this game, when you reach a door, you won't hear any sound like in the original. the trick to go through the door is, press up and the right arrow, until your character stops walking. if he/she stops, that means, your character is at the door. to open it, just press the X button while press the up and right arrow at the same time.that's all for now, I will give you more tips when I have bought the full version of the game. later on, I will give you guys tips about alchemy, cooking, acquiring new skills for each character, and more.

Re: A question about mainstream rpgs

@pulseman: for valkyrie profile, it's not accessible.although it's a side-scrolling RPG, there is a lot of platforming to reach areas.as for riviera, I just follow the walkthrough to play that game. the game is pretty playable, but the battle system in the game can be quite problematic, cause the battle system is item-based, that means, weapons/items can only be used in a certain amounts of time, in which if the item durability is zero, then the item is completely gone.as for movement, when you press the directional keys, the character moves from screen to screen, not walk around like in most RPGS. the game also have minigames, which is really hard.I recommend you to use a PSP emulator for that purpose, cause you can save your state and load it back if yu missed something.for odin sphere, the PS3/PS4/PS vita version, which can be called odin sphere leifthrasir, is a remake of the original odin sphere for the PS2. the game has some difference
s compared to the original, which most of them are useful for us, making the game a lot easier.the first thing is about how you do combos in the game. in the original, there is a POW gauge that will drain if you use a combo. if it's low, you'll hear a sound indicating it and when it's completely empty, you'll be stunned for a few seconds.in the leifthrasir version, you can do infinit amounts of combo without draining yur POW gauge. in this version, the POW gauge will only drain if you use special attacks, more on that below.the special attacks, in the original version, are basically similar to all characters in the game. but in leifthrasir, all characters have their own unique special abilities, for example gwendolyn can use an ice to friese her enemies, cornelius can use electric attack to stun his enemies for a short time, making it vulnerable to combos, mercedes can shoot arrows and lazer beams, oswald can do rapid attacks with his beldor rea
ver, and even transforming him to a shadow knight form, and velvet uses her chains to attack her enemies.then, the areas in the game is changed dramatically. in the original, the areas basically loops back, meaning if you are in the right side, the character will move back to the left. but in leifthrasir, there are 2 kinds of areas, circular and side-scrolling areas.the circular area is basically for battles, but the side-scrolling areas are basically to advance to the next area.in odin sphere leifthrasir, there are some areas that requires platforming, but luckily it isn't quite hard, cause your character have their own skills to reach certain heights. the other differences between the original and leifthrasir is alchemy.in the original, you need to manually select ingredients for mixing things, but in leifthrasir, you just need to know the recipes and the game will automatically create it for you. but still, you need the required ingredients to make a
potion.then, in leifthrasir, there is an item box, which is pretty useful for managing items. it basically saves up to 128 items and you can sort it in to categories. it has 5 categories, which are potions, seeds, items, and I don't know the other 2 options.for other RPGS, there is final fantasy XIII, but you can only play the game until chapter 10, the rest will become open-world. there is also ygdra union for the PSP, quite playable strategy RPG but it's really hard.then there is the lord of the rings: war in the north for the PS3/X360/PC, which is an action RPG based on the popular lord of the rings movie and novel. haven't got really far in that game, but still doable with some patience.

A question about mainstream rpgs

Hello everyone,I know there are some accessible mainstream RPGs, but I have quite a bit of trouble playing them. I'm refering to Odin Sphere and the PSP version of Riviera. For those who played the games, how do you figure out what to do and what happens in battle? Do you just follow a walkthrough?I also have questions about other RPGs being accessible or not.The first is Valkyrie Profile, which was somewhat mentionned on a GameFAQS thread 7 years ago, but it wasn't clear if it was accessible or not, though I personnally don't think it is.The second is the PS2 version of Romancing Saga. It's sound design seams rather complete, but I don't know if it's accessible or not. Did anyone try to play it following a walkthrough? Thanks in advance for your help.PulsemanEdit: For Riviera, it's not that I don't know how to play it, but I don't really know how to manage the items so let's say I don'
t play it as good as I could do, so does nyone have some clue about how to do it well?
