Re: Early 2015 macbook air, is it worth upgrading?

Macs don’t even have a bios, lol. That’s recovery mode, which is fully accessible. About that though, a complete erase and re install of mac OS fixed the issue pretty good. Now just need this stupid escape key fixed...

Re: Early 2015 macbook air, is it worth upgrading?

I have the 2015 pro here, and really do enjoy it. It's got 16 GB DDR3 RAM, a 256GB SSD, and an I7.I currently run both Boot camp and Mac OS on it, and it's got a lot of speed, or at least enough for me.

Doesn't Mac have a partition manager you can go into? It might be in the bios, but you could probably get some help to delete the unusable partition.

Re: Early 2015 macbook air, is it worth upgrading?

Yeah that is eventually what I plan on doing. The thing right now is getting together the money to buy the thing. I will see about re installing mac OS on the MBA later and see if it fixes the storage issue, at least.

Re: Early 2015 macbook air, is it worth upgrading?

Hi.Well, I would recommend you putting a SSD into the device because I noticed that it really speeds up the system, with the mb 2012, you can swap the CD drive for a SSD and leave the default hardrive in, so that way you have an ssd for the system and a bigger slower one for eventual data, at leased that's what I would do.Gretings Moritz.

Re: Early 2015 macbook air, is it worth upgrading?

I actually wasn’t even going to try ebay after seeing basically nothing on amazon, but I found a pretty good deal on ebay. I’ll just have to hope I can get this stupid bank situation sorted out before someone else gets it. Thanks for the tip though. The one I’m looking at buying has 8 gigs of ram and I believe 4 cores, so pretty excited about this. The HDD is also 750 gigs, so may not even need to upgrade it for a while. Pretty insain something from 2012 can still run 10.15, says a lot about how long term these devices actually can be.

Re: Early 2015 macbook air, is it worth upgrading?

I currently sport a 2012 MBP for my school use and when I'm on the go. Most of the time I end up remoting into my desktop so its not like I care much about the speed. I will say though, when I run Mac OS for compiling and test software I love it. I bumped my machine up to a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of DDr3 Ram, and its doing pretty good. You could probably pick one up on Ebay for about $250, or 193 pounds. I got the upgrade kit for about $120 and eveerything worked out fine.

Early 2015 macbook air, is it worth upgrading?

Hey all,So I’ve recently started to get back into mac OS again. I am facing more than a couple issues with my machine, however, and I’m not sure all of them are easily fixable.First off, my escape key, for some unknown reason, doesn’t work at all. Mac OS users, you should know this is a pretty huge issue. Unsure what the best corse of action would be to get it repaired. Right now I’m using my USB keyboard, but it’s layout is really more sooted to windows.Second issue is storage. This thing has a 128 gig SSD, and I’m pretty sure you can’t swap out hardware on the air, at least not easily. Not only that, thanks to a failed bootcamp attempt a few years ago, I have like 50 or 60 gigs of non perjable space. I’m told a re install of mac OS might fix the issue, but wanted to ask first so I can be sure before I do that.Third, more of an annoyance than anything, this thing sometimes likes to randomly boot into password recovery on boot for no apparent reason, at least not that I could find.If it comes to getting a new mac, I have a few options right now.First of all is the mid 2012 macbook pro. I like the look of this one a lot, with it’s easily upgradable hardware, CD drive, better specs off the bat, etc.I’m also thinking about possibly a mac minny, or maybe an older Imac.Any idea where I can get any of these for reasonably cheap? Thanks,Charlie.
