The best example is magic attack: if a mon learns no special attacks, there's absolutely no reason to invest in magic attack.There are more advanced examples when getting in to teambuilding for pvp battles; for instance, a fast hard hitting mon with poor defenses will never be a defensive tank no matter how many points you invest in defenses so you might as well invest in attack and speed since the mon won't be able to take a hit anyway. As regards levels, in manamon type advantage is worth more than levels generally. The first stadium's creatures are sound type, with hydrake that is sound, water and plant. Going in with anything weak to those (particularly with hydrake who is very tough), will have a far harder time.
