I’d like to start out by saying that it wasn’t Simba who I was angry at as a lot of people thought, but I can see why people would think that. Secondly, most of the reason I lost my composure is do to the fact that I’ve had a lot of things go on during the past few weeks - going through my first break-up, losing a friend to cancer, and worrying about my graduation and the complexities of it to name a couple of these problems. This is why games like Alter Aeon allow you to freeze a character or account for a predetermined amount of time. I believe Aardwolf does this as well. Some people do not know when to say "stop", and even if they tell themselves on Monday that they're done with a place, they may very well lose their composure on Wednesday and return. This is a very real issue, and should not be taken lightly.That said, there are ways to lock yourself out of your own account. Carter determined a pretty good one a few posts back. You do not necessarily need to be banned.DanGero, if you're still here and can still see this, I want to address some stuff you said.In the last little while especially, I feel you've been taking a lot of things here really seriously. I believe you've even said as much. People disagreeing with you, the responses of other users, even stuff you're not to blame for in the slightest, all seems to be hammering in on you from multiple sides. This concerns me, and makes me worry for your mental health. If you have someone in your area, a friend, a family member, a counsellor, something like that, to speak to, I strongly recommend you do so, because while I hate to say what comes next so baldly, your responses are not rational. You're taking way, way too much responsibility, and that is never a good sign. It suggests that you're seriously overcommitted to this environment, which isn't healthy for anyone. We can't be expected to understand the lengths to which you go in order to be validated here, and at the same time, you can't be expected to just hand-wave the difficulties you experience on the forum just because people don't fully understand the effects they are having on you. I think, in other words, that a break for you, a pause for you to get your bearings, would be an extremely good thing. If they know they would benefit from a ban and also know they can't just go and scramble their password, then decide to request help with it... I know bans have been given on Alter Aeon for similar reasons, at least in the past, and whilst it does seem a tad unusual, I reckon the idea is good. All in all, I respected it. If you want classes, ask a developer you'l ltrust. Most will teach you for a small fee, some may even do it for free. One of the worst things that you can do for yourself is rely on others for your own happiness. It just never works. When you're looking for others to validate you, you're giving them the power to build you up or tear you down.What you want to do is find your own happiness. These are the things that bring you enjoyment. The parts of life that are real, and that give you long term sustainability.A lot of people think making money and buying stuff all the time makes them happy. It doesn't! What it does do is gives them a pleasurable experience which doesn't last all that long. When they come down off of that, they need to buy more things to stay in that cycle. If they stopped, they'd realize how empty and lonely their lives were.Why do you think that poor people can be so happy sometimes? They struggle day in and day out just to barely scrape by. They might have to even put one or two or three bills behind to pay for something, then try to play catch up. But, in all that, why is it that they can be so happy? It's surprisingly straightforward. See, in all that, what they do have are family and friends who love and care for them, and whom they love and care for. It may be cliché, but the simple things in life are often the best.I like to think that happiness is like a pool. When you have a lot of it, you can spread it around to people near you and maybe lift them up a bit. But, when you don't have a lot of it, they can easily take what you do have; in effect, stealing it from you.Now, let's say two people enter a serious relationship. I'll refer to them as A and B. if A is happy and B is not; B may rely on A for their own happiness. What this will do is slowly drain A over time, until A can no longer sustain their own happiness. Then, both people aren't happy. A is feeling drained, and might even be experiencing symptoms of depression and suicidal thoughts if they feel they can't get out of the relationship. B is more likely to try crazy things to make them happy, or may even lead to the relationship becoming toxic.On the other hand, if A and B were both happy people before they entered into a relationship, things would pan out a bit differently. Let's say A had a really stressful week at work, leading up to some big important event. They will have to present tomorrow, but tonight, they're anxious, nervous, and maybe a bit afraid. This is where B could sort of lend A some happiness. Just through listening to what A has to say, perhaps looking through A's notes or outline, maybe giving A a massage, or even a more intimate sexual experience. Now A feels more uplifted and confident about their presentation, but this isn't the end of the story. You see, A will at some point in the future reciprocate. This is what a relationship should be. Two people who are in love with each other, who contribute not only to the household, but to the well being of each other and the relationship as a whole. But, this can only happen when you both are happy. If one is relying on the other one, it'll fail each and every time.Now, moving on from that metaphor, let's look at how you (OP) can modify your expectations of others. The first step of this is to find everyone in your life whom you feel should be able to sway you, or whom you feel should have some influence over you. Once you've done that, everyone else doesn't really matter as much. you're basically rationing the power other people can have over you.For instance, I don't tend to find your humor funny. I feel that it's kind of dry and lacking. I also believe that you try too hard in most things. That this very nature of yours that causes you to set impossible standards, and then push yourself until you can't anymore is causing your downfall.I'm just one person though. So, when you're dealing with random internet people, you really have to decide whether or not you're going to let them affect you. In other words, suck it up, buttercup. Don't let one voice in a sea of possible voices set you down some self-destructive path. Though, if you see a bunch of people telling you the same thing, in a manner that seems to be constructive, then you might want to at least take a look at what they have to say. Whether you try to change your behavior at that point is still up to you, but a bunch of people saying the same thing aren't generally going to be wrong - unless of course you're talking about mob mentality. This is something I’ve always done. I don’t do this for attention, and I don’t do this to be cool. I knew people like posters eight and nine weren’t going to care in the least. All I try to do for people is help and make them happy, and it constantly gets thrown back in my face. I Want to be Banned I don’t think I’ve ever made a topic like this. If I feel like I’m done with the forum, I step away from it silently. However, I’m honestly getting really upset. I’d like to explain a little something to everyone. The last couple months have probably been one of the most intense months of my entire life. If I were to go through each and every thing that happened this month, it would have taken that long to write it. Lets just say that life in training has taken its tole on me. Meanwhile, I come on this forum, but all I see is negativity everywhere. In an attempt to bring some light on a dark situation for both myself and others, I try my best to joke about anything negative I can find. The last time I did that, I got backlash from people. Out of the two laughs I got, I had about 6 people mocking me or criticizing me for my joke. One user even pissed me off with his comment so bad that I was getting ready to personally attack him, and I had to stop myself and think long enough for me to cool down. I usually manage to keep my patience and not lash out at someone personally for things, but I don’t know how much longer I can take it. I’m a grown adult, but I admit to crying myself to sleep some nights because of all the stress I’m going through. All I try to do is help people and give them something good to remember me by. That’s why I tried to revive Battle Zone. I told myself I could do it, hell I even promised I would do it because I hold myself to an impossibly high standard. If I work on something, I feel like a complete and total failiar of a man if I can’t finish it. I can’t code. I’ve never been able to code, and won’t be able to unless I take classes or something along those lines. However, I told myself that it didn’t matter if I could code or not, I had to release this to the public one way or another, simply because I have to do it and for no other reason. I try my best, but it’s never enough for anyone and I get ridiculed. I’m leaving this forum, but I’m not changing my password. You know why? Because I can’t go through with it. I’m an idiot, so I’m gonna keep coming back over and over, looking at posts I make and looking at ways people slam me down. I don’t know why I tourture myself like this, but I want to make sure I can’t do this to myself anymore. It’s tearing me apart looking at this forum and taking it in the face when someone shows distaste for one little thing I wrote. I want my account to be banned from here. Not forever mind you, but long enough to keep me out and make sure I can’t come back until I stop tourchering myself this way.
