Re: Py IDE?

@12If there's a bug with VSCode, submit an issue. You can do it directly from the help menu.

Re: Py IDE?

My friend who uses Python just loves VSCode for it. Debugger just works, source controll and even terminal that can be used directly from IDE, although not that good because of the bug that doesn't allow to modify previously written command on it.

Re: Py IDE?

Perhaps googling getting started with VS code or getting started with language X in VS code could help? I am genuinely trying to assist here, I just don’t know what you are looking for.

Re: Py IDE?

If you're using notepad2 as your program editor I would personally recommend notepad++ as an alternative, for code editing at least. I use notepad2 as my general purpose editor for everything, and notepad++ I open code in. Allows me to have specific NVDA code profiles set up in that editor, indentation reporting and the like, and some of the fancy stuff it's capable of doing is more accessible.

@6That's interesting. I have a friend who swears by PyCharm, so I assumed I was doing something wrong. Thanks for the clarification. Glad I didn't lose too much sleep over it.

Re: Py IDE?

@5You can't get it working probably because you're one of the large minority of people who's having java Access Bridge bugs.  Supposedly it can be fixed, but I have tried over the years, there's 4 or 5 competing sets of directions out there, and none of them have worked for me when this happens.

@4Are there any problems with it? I've literally never been able to get it working, and I'm not sure if it's me, or the software. Not planning to use it now, because VSCode, but I always wondered.

Re: Py IDE?

Yes @2, using it for Python lots and lots here. Works great. Even better once you start using Type hints. Now I can fly, and very few type-centric bugs.I still tend to run py.test and my main scripts from cmd, because I just prefer reading tracebacks and things there, but it's strictly unnecessary.

Re: Py IDE?

I use VSCode for C++ and some Python. Others use it for Python.  Assuming it's as good for Python at scale as it is for C++ you get everything you've ever wanted with only a couple minor bugs.

Py IDE?

So other than the very and clearly inaccessible IDLE that ships with python, does anyone use any IDE for testing and running code?I'm using notepad2 and the command line, and wanted to give PyCharm a try, but wanted to get people's feedback first
