Re: System requirements for audiogames

Ah, that sounds good. I am planning to buy a new Computer with the specs i menssioned in the first post, since I am using currently a machine with an I5 CPU but I have the Feeling that I dont even use this power. Would the specs be enough for future Audio games as well or have the specs not changed much in the last couple of years?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168577#p168577

Re: System requirements for audiogames

Hi.Audiogames are going to be more advanced as well, and I think audiogames also will have more and more graphic in the future. No one knows what will happen, so Ill recommend you to at leased bye a computer with some good specs. Some big programs can also take a lot of power from a computer, and it would be pretty frustrating to not run some great sound editing programs in the future if you suddenly wanna mess around with that.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168579#p168579

Re: System requirements for audiogames

I agree with most of what @tward says above, with a few minor gaming exceptions. For whatever reason, I find that entombed can occupy about 3 GB of RAM, and 75 percent of my CPU, without even trying. I think this has to do more with flaws in the code than anything. Also, if you are using some of the larger mud soundpacks, Im thinking especially of the Miriani Cloud Soundpack for vipmud, youre going to need a good deal of memory, just because of the inefficiencies of vipmud, and storing sounds as WAV files. The same goes for the Alter Aeon mush-z soundpack, but to a lesser extent. So I guess the long and short of it is your CPU specs dont really matter unless you play a lot of entombed, and if you play a lot of MUDs with large soundpacks you should really have 4 to 8 GB of memory, IMHO.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168593#p168593

Re: System requirements for audiogames

Niklas, the specs you gave above are far more than enough to run any audio game on the market. Even the new ones. The reason is most of them are written using a single thread meaning they cant use a duel core even if you had one in the box, and none of them have a lot of memory requirements. Most of them are only audio, and dont need the massive amounts of ram required for video game graphics and animation that mainstream games require. For Example, the laptop I am using right now is a six year old Compaq with 2 GB of ram, a 3.6 GHZ single core Intel Pentium, a 120 GB hard drive, with Windows 7 and there arent any audio games I cant play on it. Its not by any means a state-of-the-art machine, but it does fine with audio games. In fact, at this point the only question is weather or not the game is Windows 7 compatible not weather or not the hardware is good enough. Hardware wise this six year old Compaq is fine.My point being is if you have a co
mputer made in the last five or six years dont worry about it. Audio games are not memory or CPU intensive. They are nowhere near as hardware intensive as mainstream games.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168553#p168553
