Re: Business Simulations Wanted, No Install Needed

@Juliette, No idea on Aprone's games, but yes Castaways is about the best in terms of managing actual life and details, I'd suggest talking to Aprone about the problem your having with the installation.I never liked Empire mud, I find the descriptions turse, the tutorial a bit lacking,  and the actual doing of tasks a bit to simplistic for my taste, plus a bad experience with the game's admin when I first started didn't help either. Wayfare1444 imho does that sort of game in a mud much better, building a space colony with actual citizens and being able to build everything from trucks to shovels, to camp fires and even spaceships once you get going. I do know more people management got added to the game but I didn't quite get to that point. Popamundo I also know has a huge life sim aspect, with you having a character and doing everything from surfing to bieng a fire fighter if you want, despite the game being focused mostly on
making a pop group, so you might want to try that as while it's not an aeconomic sim it probably has the sort of details you'd want.

Re: Business Simulations Wanted, No Install Needed

I think I'd like something where managing people is the goal. Money pours out of my hands like a rainfall, so I'm definitely sure that something based on the economy of a whole city is going to be a bit tough. I used to play a similar game with my sister, but it wasn't built for a screen reader. It was basically taking care of a whole village, giving people tasks and actually watching them grow up and have children. I know castaways is the closest to the game I'm picturing, but I can't install the components it needs, so I guess I'm stuck with browser-based. I've tried EmpireMUD, but I think it's tough. One thing they don't tell you on the text map is that there are loads of aggressive creatures wanting your blood. I died three times, almost back to back, so I decided to call it quits. I miss my Windows XP computer. Aprone's games worked on those just fine, no drivers to deal with. Thanks for your help.

Re: Business Simulations Wanted, No Install Needed

I would actually prefer something with more detail, I'm detail oriented as well. NVDA has a find feature too, but I find that I have to restart the program to set a new search term. Do you know of a similar game that's browser-based, but with more detail? I like imagining what my subjects are doing. You're right, it's dry.

Re: Business Simulations Wanted, No Install Needed

With Kapy regnum, yes, the pages are rather cluttered, in particular I didn't like the way that resources were often in a plane list with no navigation or links to things, understanding the economy would be quite a task but definitely one if your a fan of that style of game.I did find supernova's ability to jump to and find text on each page helpful. Actually, the game needs a db entry, though I confess I did find it rather too dry for my taste, in particular I wish there was a litlte more of actual medieval life and atmosphere in the game, since the simple model of "resources and workers in, goods out" was a bit too reductionist for my taste, treating workers as means to an end and not really considering much of what was where in the kingdom or what your people's lives were like. A bit scary indeed to think that there are people in the real world who really do! just see people like this, as sets of statistics rather than actual human lives, but bef
ore I start on a marxist rant I'll stop. Either way glad Kapy regnum is what your looking for.

Re: Business Simulations Wanted, No Install Needed

Hi,The game dark is reffering to is called kapilands. i thought it could be found at:http://www.kapilands.comIt is just like kapi-regnum, but then in modern times. the prices are much higher, for both you can sell your goods for, but also for what you can buy them. for my in person, i more like kapi-regnum.of course, you can earn a lot of money when your city has been build well right on from the start, wich i did ... within 10 days i was able to earn around one million per day ... but when you like trying things out it can take some longer, but that's up to the preference of play-style of the player.hthgreetz mike

Re: Business Simulations Wanted, No Install Needed

Hi Juliette, Agreed on the challenges, indeed I remember a very destressing point in 2008 when I played smugglers 3 for nearly 36 solid hours, since calculating how much prophet transporting 59 units of mars to sirius got me was much better than what was going on in my brain at the time. First, I'd suggest you talk to Aprone about getting youmart to work, since if you enjoy parkboss and predicting market trends that might be the game for you and there is certainly a plane zip. All suggestions look on www.whitestick.co.uk.Kapy regnum seems exactly what your looking for, manage a medeivil kingdomkingdom with peasants, farmers, crafters, fishermen and the like, use some resources to produce others and sell on the global market. I confess I found that game a bit too! dry, but if your looking for business sim and detail that might be the one. I also believe there is a modern day version with the kapy title, but I
'm not sure. I've also heard of a game called perfect competition which is pure business, though that one I don't know much about and haven't played. There is the mud federation ii, which starts off with you running around delivering stuff in a spaceship but as you get into the game lets you trade in futures, own a company, and even get up to owning a cartel and having board meatings with stocks. AGain, lots of detail. I don't know if you can play muds, but it's certainly worth looking at if your interested in business. Those are the pure business games I know, but there are many more games that include heavy business elements. Core exiles has factory management, sales and resource production, management of workers and miners and all sorts of other things, and a huge! in game economy. Though there are space missions, ship combat, delivering cargo and the like how much you get into each things depends upon your interest in
the game, there are players who never buy any weaponry for their ships, and there are players who never craft. Torn city has a heavy stockmarket with trading in futures, as well as global economy, though how much that separates out from the main thust of the game doing crimes etc I don't know. hth. There may be more, especially in muds like avalon and clok and other realistic games, indeed there may be other browser games (I wouldn't be surpised if popamundo has something economical), but those should get you started.
