So I'm probably having a derp moment, though ramps never seem to unlock themselves even after I unlock basically all the bikes, although bike 3, the second free bike you get by achievements, doesn't seem to unlock either. Anyone else noticed this?

Hi.I'm so glad you're working on this thing again.  This is the most addicting audio game I've played in ages.shortly after you stopped working on the game a while back, Voice over on the mac stopped reading game text no matter what I did, so I wasn't able to play the game.  I tried again last night after I saw activity on this thread and on Applevis; Voice over read text fine but it's intercepting more keypresses than it used to, so I have to continuously turn it off and back on.  Web TTS has never read menus to me.  The only thing I've heard it say is status messages, like 'loading map 2' or whatever.  In fact, I think that's the only thing I've ever heard it say. lolAnyway, thanks for taking a look at this awesome project again.

Anyone with a games console tried the new version? WOndering if it fixes the issue I had where, on xbox one, if I tried pressing a to make the bike start moving, well, nothing happened, the bike just sat there, this was a few months back though.

It's honestly a great game and I'm glad to see it works on an iPhone 6.Small point of note, the bikes don't make the rev noises when selecting them either in the shop or in the start screen in firefox on windows 10 possibly? They work fine on the iPhone though.So glad I can be a cyclepath on the go! Although, it'd be very nice if sounds could cache for those who don't have internet connections or on vacation.

It's been pretty quiet around this game, but today I bring you an exciting new update. I've been working hard the last few days to update the code a lot, including real menus. This means the game now officially works well on mobile! So if you want to try it on mobile, make sure to head into options and turn Gyro to on. All the menus work now, including entering your name! Tilt to turn, as always. There might be bugs, so help me squash them! Remember that you might need to clear your cache to get the update. On iOS, this is in settings, safari, clear website data. Hopefully everything works!Only the web version has been updated for now, but this has been the recommended way to play the game either way for now. So if you want to try this new version, simply go to http://cyclepath.dragonapps.orgJust a warning, the game currently doesn't cache the sounds, so they get redownloaded between sessions. If your phone is not connected to wifi this means a couple of MB of data. I'm working on this.

The mac version doesn't work with voiceover. It works the same as the web version on IOS. Just use the web version for mac, unless the tts option is available in the downloadable version and im just not aware of it.

i'm afraid i'm having some of these same issues.  i finally tried this on the computer by downloading t windows version.  yet i find that i have to turn off any screen reader to play or get through anything.  rather this being nvda or, system access, it doesn't work.  it always says touch hear so i have to make a guess on ware to touch but even so, keyboard controls don't work unless accessible screen readers are off.  in adition, i've learned that some of this is also an issue in playing on crome on my android devices.  it use to talk but it stopped.  this of corse was using tb or any other screen readers.  its bad for a game to start by saying touch hear.  it would be better if u have keyboard navigations by default and if one wants to change to touch then it could work that way.  just a suggestion.  sense i can't play this while screen reader is on, and i'm having difficulties, its quite d
 ifficult to learn this game in a better direction.  knowing what i'm getting or collectiong etc.

Safari works fine, make sure quick nav is off to play. Turn it off with left and right arrows as you probably know already.Sometimes when i'm playing, the game will freeze. I'll be driving along and then i'll hear an object of some kind passing me but it will never pass me and i'll realize its frozen for some reason. Maybe this is related to safari, don't know. Not really any to solve it, I usually just turn voiceover off or go out of the game and restart.

Ok so I just tried the game on mac, and the downloadable version doesn't really work. Voiceover doesn't read anything unless you vo left to it and even then it doesn't even seem to read when I scroll through the menu. The web version works pretty damn good, only thing is for some reason hitting enter on anything in the ppay menu be it set bike or what ever just starts the game and it always says loading village even though i'm playing the farm. Not sure why this happens.

Hmm, as far as I know, the game counts coins on ramps after dying, at leased it did play the coin collection sound when I bounced into coins on a ramp, so I guess they still count.Greetings Moritz.

I had an interesting thing happen today. I often wonder when I die and bounce up if I will hit coins and stuff or a ramp, well that happened today, I bounced and slid and hit the ramp and it made the sound like you jumped it, and I did bounce a little again after that, I guess it boosted me still but I was going slow then so I didn't jump anywhere near the full ramp when your bike is going fast. It was still funny. Now all I have to do it hit it right so I bounce into coins, if the game still counts collisions with them at that point, which I don't know, but it would still be cool.

I have a problem with cyclepath. I have only windows7 32 bit. Yesterday i download 32 bit version of cyclepath. I unlocked and buy the freerun. I playing playing playing and between 7 and 10 minutes later the game will be quiet. and if i press the q key it don't quit so the game is freezing. What is the problem with that? My save or what? When i download the game i start it in an usb device. but after that first freezing, i copied that in my notebook folder, and it does again and again. After that i copied that in my desktop computer and the game does that again. So i don't know what is the problem. I can't believe that the problem is with my computer, because in web that game working wery vell. Sorry for my wrong english, i hope that you can understand me.

Hi,Cyclepath latest version doesn't detect NVDA and doesn't speak with SAPI on my pc either. The basically doesn't give any audible feedback except the sound effects. Please help. I moved the local storage folder into the recycle bin from the app data, the game gave feedback with both speech and sound effects this time but my data was reset. So I reset the folder and the game doesn't talk. The old version, the first beta, uses the SAPI with no speech interruption so it gets very annoying. I am playing the 64-bit version from the pc with a windows 10 home single language pc.Thanks.

You have to turn on this option if ramps are unlocked. After that when you are driving your cycle you will sometimes hear a low beeping sound.You have to center this beep as fast as possible and your bike will jump across the ramp automatically.I still can not understand how modern turning is working, I am using classic turning.

Hi,@ksapergia: This is really odd. This happens over time? Are you sure the WebTTS option is turned off? If none of that helps, try maximizing the window. Speech output is done through a HTML element in the window, not sure if that needs to be visible or not... I've never had this issue.SLJ: _javascript_ keeps evolving. Browsers also keep evolving. Google Chrome wasn't around back in the days of Tarzan Junior. Since then, we have gotten things like the web audio API which allows for complex audio programming, things like WebTTS and joystick input, WebGL for graphics etc. _javascript_ engines kept getting faster and faster, most browsers now ship with one that does just-in-time compilation instead of interpretation to execute code even faster, this used to not happen.But not even just that. _javascript_ itself has grown and has more features than it did. ES6 introduced the class syntax which looks pretty similar to BGT. Under the hood it still works differen
 tly, but it makes for much easier code understanding and easier to work with. I guess you could just say that browsers and computers evolved enough so audiogames aren't a big deal anymore. @Jeff: possible, but probably not very likely. Unless of course someone wants to add it for me.  I'm closer than ever to putting it on Github. So if anyone's interested in doing something with it get ready.

Hi,I'm having a problem playing Cycle Path. I was able to play the game using NVDA for speech output as the web TTS doesn't seem to work for me. However, it's now at the point where every time I start the game, I get no speech output at all after pressing Space to skip the intro. I can tell I'm in a menu, but the options don't speak. After pressing Enter a few times, I eventually get to what I think is the actual game, but there's no sound. This has occurred with both the web version using Firefox, and the Windows 64-bit version.Is there a way to resolve this? If you use JFW with Chrome there might be some issues. I have just recently noticed that. Try using NVDA. And also make sure your browse mode is on.Thanks for the support guys. It's really motivating to hear all this. I'm not saying I'm done with it, but I can't work on both at the same time so I'm juggling projects a little bit back and forth here. And a lot of things are going to change in the next year for me, so I might have even less time. . so... here's a thing. I Went to have a blast at this today, and when a map loads key presses aren't being sent to the game. You can't quit, move or start your bike going. Once you've went through menus to get everything set up you're essentially  locked out of the game.

I also like Cyclepath, I have every achievement on the desktop windows version but the web version currently crashes at city, but it's to be expected because, as Ghorthalon has said at the beginning of this topic, it's a beta, and that is the key here.I also think if/when this leads on to bigger things, it's going to be epic as well, this leading into the fps. But I hope some of the crashes can be fixed although I also understand if this might not happen now, and I respect that decision in fact. Over the years, I've learned to respect developers. I say the same thing when people ask why isn't this game done yet, or something like that, I say, people have lives. They can't make games the whole time. Or they may lose motivation, which has happened to me with some projects before. I respect what we have and am greatful for it. The fact that a dev decides to share their works with the wold though, is their decision and is an incredible one.

Ghorth, the same thing happens with many other games that get released. We don't get as many games as sighted do, so we all jump on the games that we do get and want them to be something big. If you don't feel like making it into that, that's fine. If you want a break, nobody can stop you. What you've made is already good. Some very valid points here. I should have probably mentioned that this project wasn't meant as something big. It's already gone far beyond what I invisioned, even with the amount of people playing. That's quite humbling. I was working on the FPS and encountered a problem, so wanted to get my mind off of that and create a short, quick game I could release in a week or two.That week has now turned into months and I keep having that thought of this not being what I wanted to end up doing. I thought I would release it, fix some bugs for a few weeks maybe and have time to work on the FPS. But it seems like people are expecting more than that.Because of this I think it's crucial that I start working on the game's open source release. I love this game, but probably not as much as some of you do. i hardly play it anymore, only like others said, for 10 minutes to jump some ramps and grab some coins. I was trying to learn my environment and it w
 orked, I wasn't trying to make an amazing game. But it's spiraling for some reason.Although most suggestions should be pretty easy to implement, like the time factor or the length factor, to a point where the game will have an end. Something to look forward to, something to cause a break, no matter what. But again, i was more designing the game after something like Lane Splitter - and I had never reached an end in that game.So I guess we'll see where this project goes. I'd much rather focus more on my FPS, if I'm completely honest. I'm so much more thrilled about that, but I see a lot of people enjoy this game a lot as well so I don't want to let anyone down. I have also seen the sound cutting off in the setup play screen. Also, I think some of the coins are placed too far away from the ramps, so it makes it that you drop before you even get there. This can even happen while you're going top speed, but usually its when you're not up to top speed, could they spawn based on distance and how fast you're going, so you could actually collect them?It's only a problem usually until you get up to speed on a faster bike, sometimes even top speed on a slower bike isn't enough.

I feel incredibly stupid right now.I just realized why I was still having issues with the game freezing and such. When I extracted the new version, I placed it in the directory where the old version had been previously. However, I also moved the old version into a different folder, just in case I encountered any showstopping bugs.Well, the desktop shortcut I created manually was still pointing to the old version. I most likely never would have realized this if I hadn't finally decided to get rid of the old version. Lo and behold, my shortcut didn't launch, I realized my mistake, and could have smacked myself for the sheer duh factor. So, let me actually play the new version and then see what I have to say about it. Because in my quick test I just performed, it did tell me how many coins I collected. So sorry about reporting that. I could just edit my earlier post, but I'm really not a fan of doing that. It seems disingenuous.

The arcade game, hang on, where you got on a mock up of a real superbike with a screen on the handlebars, and banked it to turn was one of my favourites as a kid. I never beat it, but I had some good runs, and the fact that you complete individual stages gave you a sense of triumph and achievement, and a moment to gather yourself for the next stage. I really think that sort of thing would give cyclepath more playability. Like distance stages, or collec
 t so many coins in a certain time or whatever. It'd give you something to tick off, and I think that sense of progresss is a hugely important aspect of gameplay. I appreciate Ghorthalon is busy ironing out bugs, so this isn't a suggestion, merely wishful thinking.

Ghorthalon has already said that this game will not have missions, but maybe if it goes open source at some point then it might happen. At the moment the game is enjoyable and sounds great, but I find I only play it for 10 minutes or so because there's nothing really motivating me to keep trying in that way where you suddenly look at the time and find you've been playing for two hours. The arcade game, hang on, where you got on a mock up of a real superbike with a screen on the handlebars, and banked it to turn was one of my favourites as a kid. It was like cyclepath in that once you crash it's game over, but it had stages that started off quite short but got longer and longer. Hi,At this stage it's probably easier for Ghorth to work on the web version because it's instantl updatable, absically. With the downloads, there's the case that he has to keep on uploading the binary files, and in his last post he said at that time, his internet wasn't that great, so I think for now that's why he's working on the web version. IT'll also be a good idea to experiment with this as well, I think, as it lets more people experience it which is cool.

I have 2 questions:1. Bike 4 and 5 show up as bike 3 and 4. The e-bike shows up as bike11 when I select it. Would it be possible to show the bike names as they are in the shop?2. When you buy bikes in the shop, you can read a description. Is there a way to read the description of bike1 and 2?Also a bug, when you press play and select a bike, the bike sounds sometimes cut before the end. Maybe it's just me, I'm using chrome on a win7 32 bit.

Hi.Well, the web version already tells you how many coins you picked up, but it seams to me that the counter is off sometimes and you have picked up more coins than the counter tells you.In the offline version I haven't seen that, but as far as I grasped, ghorth will put his focus on the web version. I think there might still be some memory issues, unless the game is really supposed to be this processor intensive. On my I5 system with 16GB of RAM, I was playing for over an hour straight when the game froze spectacularly, and I had to close it in Task Manager. I would guess that the 32 bit version would be designed to not be as punishing, but since I'm not running a 32 bit system I didn't test it. And, to be fair, I don't know that many people play for such long periods of time as I just did anyway.Just out of curiosity, how many achievments are there in the game? And are there plans to add more as time goes on?I was also thinking that it would be cool if it were possible for users to submit maps and extra bikes/cars. Is this something that's in the works, or are there going to be more official maps and so on added in the future?Finally, would it be possible to add the ability to see how many coins you got after a game is over? Since we 
 get to see our score, and how far we've travelled, I feel that it makes sense to see how many coins we picked up as well. This would make it easier to calculate how far we have to go in order to buy stuff in the shop without having to go into statistics.

Hey all,thanks for all your comments and I will get to them when I have energy. But do know I've read them all.I just updated the binaries and included a 32 bit build. Not as many changes as I'd like, but I've tried to change the worlds some to make them less difficult. It might not have worked very well yet, but we're getting there.I hope I've fixed at least most of the memory leaks. Still, I can't tell you if the 32 bit build will run well on your computer, especially if the web version didn't.It will keep all your data, so if you were playing offline and you have some stuff, it'll get it. if you turn on modern turning, if you press either your left or the right arrow keys your bike will turn in the direction until you hit a wall. so to straiten yourself you have to turn it backward. for example, if you are turning to the right and hear something on the left, you should press the left arrow key quickly or else your bike will crash in to the wall.

seriously, for those who are asking for 32 bit versions of this game, if you are having trouble in the browser version, you're not likely going to run it any better in a 32 bit app version. you probably don't have enough ram / CPU power to run the game properly, so having a 32 bit version isn't going to help. you need an upgraded machine, as much as a downgraded game. and i'd much rather see an awesome game, than have it downgraded to run better on slower, older hardware. sorry, but that's just how it goes in the computer world. sometimes, your machine just isn't good enough to run more intense programs. this is obviously one of those cases.

Hi,I can also confirm that in the browser version, using a dev build of chrome, the game crashes when trying to load the city. It just makes the first loading progress noise, and stops at the lowest.

@nick, There is no brake function, that is the point. The idea is you press space to go, and you are always going. And why would you want a horn? Trying to avoid cars that are trying to crash in to you is the entire point of the game, and a horn to keep the cars away would completely spoil that. Also, a learn sounds menu has been requested; hopefully it can be added soon.

OK, so in the web version, there's definitely a bug when it tells you how many coins you got. I don't know if that screen is just inaccurate and the thing is keeping track behind the scenes, or what, but if it says I collected 3 coins, I probably collected like 12 or something.Also, and yeah, I definitely thing we need a learn sounds thing, because half of that stuff I don't know what they do. I do know at least some of the ones for passing cars, and I know the coins.

I've just worked out what people mean by the ambience increasing as you get closer to the walls. I was listening for what I thought of as ambient noise. You know the sort of thing you get when you go from a very quiet room to the outdoors and you hear that whooshy white noise everywhere. Or that thing when you walk towards a wall and the sound subtley thickens so you know something's in your way. That's the kind of stuff I was listening for. I only just twigged it's the sound effects from the sides that increase/decrease depending on which side you're closest to.
