If it is a platform then your first amendment most certainly apply. The best other example I can come up with right now is in Microsoft Swiftkey for iOS, the top prediction is spoken automatically. Keep in mind that the top prediction updates every, single, time, the, cursor, moves.Actually, got another one. It's especially spammy when Skype or Discord decides that they want to interrupt the screen reader every time someones type status updates. Just, give me the ability to disable that crap. As far as I remember though, if you really want to read something and download at the same time without interruptions, you can temporarily turn off speak dynamic content changes in NVDA and that will avoid the alerts. They have the money in the bank to support that 72 hours of video uploaded a minute to YT, and how else are little guys supposed to get their foot in when you don't have to pay to upload as much shit as you want on YouTubeAnd YT is supposed to be about that user generated content, so anything short of death threats and slander shouldn't be punished or given a reason to have someone get banned, blocked from making comments, etc. Also it would be literally impossible to have a team that sifts through all the reported comments, videos, etc, so they have a bot do it, based on trigger words. That has been just dandy, oh wait it isn't. The problem is, there are corporations in Google's pockets that pay money for their ads to be hosted on their website and app. And a lot of these advertisers believe that if their video shows up before something that may be undesirable for whatever reason, that means they're associating themselves with it, which Google and the lady in charge of YouTube does fuck all to make any better, BTW.YT's just too big, too commercialized now. It does not apply to corporations that aren't owned by the national, state, or city governments. Yes, its not a good idea to do that, but it is not illegal. And if it were illegal to do that, it would prevent companies -- or even places like this forum -- from regulating what people are allowed to talk about. Most of the rules would be null and void because the first amendment would control. People would be allowed to say pretty much anything and get away with it. I was able to get it reading out all the live chat messages, with the minor caveat that it would also read out the phrase "comment actions", which I'm guessing is a link or something that appears after people's messages.To do it takes some familiarity with the developer tools though, and unfortunately I can't just give you some _javascript_ to do this as I'd intended, since for some reason getting hold of the chat messages box using _javascript_ returns null, somehow it's prevented from working. Unless I'm doing something wrongBut to do it in Firefox, you can right click/applications key on the messages area, prefereably if there are messages already in it, then go to inspect element. then, you'll be in a tree structure. you'll want to go up (as in left arrow), until you get to a div with the ID of items. I then right clicked that, went into the attributes submenu, then add, then put in the text role="log" and hit enter. It's possible to make it happen on a desktop browser and with some modifications to the page in developer tools though, I've done this for some sites when I've wanted this functionality, so that might be a way to go. I am legitimately concerned at the OP's current state of mind and/or mental health. The complaints they are leveraging are oddly specific and intense, particularly after what was said in post 45. It sounds like this issue runs far deeper than what CAPA may or may not enforce in the end. While there isn't much I can do beyond hoping for the best, and wanting the situation to be not as bad as it sounds under that thin veneer of plausable deniability, I do hope that the message that most folks who are reading this receive is that things aren't all doom and gloom. While we may very well get to the point where draconian restrictions are placed on the internet in the future, I also believe that technological advances will always be one step ahead, so we shouldn't panic or give up whenever something like this surfaces. And the literal thing different about actually setting your audience as children is that comments and notifications are gone, but you know, there's a lovely solution to that.1. GEt a low-cost web hosting provider2. Put a contact form on it.3. Put the contact link at the bottom of your channel, so that people with comments can send them over, and you can get back to them. If it's a kid under 13, their parents will probably be relaying that message. Otherwise it's just a normal process. Old school much? The language of the COPPA is ... bad. It's like something written by out-of-touch old people who know nothing about the generation after them, probably because it was written by out-of-touch old people who know nothing about the generation after them. The question is if there's some way in there for things like South Park and Hentai to meet the "Cartoon clearly does not mean 'for kids' in this case" standard. Does the fact that the first line in DBZ Abridged is "Oh no, my marijuana patch" enough to save TFS from getting fined? cause that's apparently the sort of thing people are thinking about doing, to make it as clear as possible to whatever entity will judge their fate that they should not be considered in violation. Re: youtube alternatives Um, no. Just set your content as adult-orientated. Parents can whitelist stuff manually if they so choose. It's not that hard. It's too much of a risk to do mixed audience, because then if kids come across them then they can't do an age-check to see if they can do personalized data collection for ads, because your age is a behind-the-scenes data collection mechanism that can't be used without verified parental consent. IT's a catch22. Google must follow the terms of the settlement while also keeping Alphabet happy with them. If something could be seen as targeting both kids and adults simaltaniuly (my tts preschool counts as such), it is exempt from coppa. I didn't say that, the FTC did. Youtube is deliberatly ignoring that rule because they are gready and financially irresponsible. if they add a mixed audience option, Us Content creators and commenters could be saved. Anything he doesn't consider family friendly he calls garbage, so I am practicly forced to revert to watching veggie tales or barney, which in any other senario might led to parental relations disaster. and if dad's also in the same room with us, then we're screwed. They're apparently being barred from any significant form of ad revenue, can't get comments, and are subject to some other very crippling restrictions. Simply just mark your stuff as non-kid friendly which most of it is anyways, and you're fine.Youtube is freaking out right now as they're in the middle of a settlement so they're putting the squeeze on creators. It's not exactly fair for creators, but it's also not a big deal if you mark your stuff. These companies already have their own brand of sensorship particularly Nintendo with their fervent anti-streaming policy. If what you say is the case (I certainly hope so), then there shouldn't be an issue.
