Re: accessibility of sound forge for windows

Yeah, and Thomas, I'm guessing you used it for the Tombhunter sounds, which were really very nice! as well as the fixing up of the sounds for STFC?I also know that Philip used it for Q9, as well as most of his older PB Games, and I'm guessing that allot of people rely on it for audio games so it seems to perform just as well as Sound Forge, though you probably won't get as good effects, such as those used on the Amorphus growls, for which you could use Audacity and some VST's if you needed them.

Re: accessibility of sound forge for windows

[ a-t ]simba, yes, Soundforge is available for Windows. As a matter of fact there are two different versions for Windows. There is the pro version and there is a less expensive consumer version. In any case accessibility depends on what screen reader you are using and how familiar you with the program. Generally speaking Soundforge is accessible if you know what you are doing but there are some aspects of Soundforge that do require scripts for. There are Jaws scripts available for the pro version, and I know there are older Window-Eyes sets available for some older versions of Soundforge. However, I'm not exactly sure what support there is from say NVDA for Soundforge. What I can say is most of the time I use Goldwave which is cheaper and more accessible. Soundforge is a good program, but to make it work correctly with a screen reader will cost a bit of cash for the scripts and such.

Re: accessibility of sound forge for windows

It is great but we can’t use it, unfortunately. It has some great features which I like so much, like editing audio options, effects, noise reduction, instruments and other features, which are read back to you, but if you want to change the percentage within an option, like cutting the song, changing pitch or tempo, it won’t read anything. I still find cool edit pro the greatest one from the accessible programs for mixing and editing audio. It’s better than Audacity.

Re: accessibility of sound forge for windows

I don't know my self because I haven't used it, but despite the accessibility issues noted above, I do know that Kai used it for all of Swamp's sounds and voice editing.

Re: accessibility of sound forge for windows

sound forge exists on windows, it is maybe sound forge 11.0 or 12.0 now, but the accessibility is pretty bad. It is a good program in my opinion, but we can't use it so far. You can perform some tasks like cutting or trimming songs delete vocals and other stuff, but it needs a lot of work because your screen reader won't read so much.

Re: accessibility of sound forge for windows

Sound Forge on Windows is not accessible out of the box, but  there are scripts (commercial) which enable accessibility for some functions. The performance is not great, and the scripts (last I checked) were expensive.
