Re: clomp clomp clomp!

I think there was an arcade version of Rampage before the Amigar port, but whether that was in turn based on other games I don't know. I've never fancied these online competitive games where you get to be a crime boss or a pirate or whatever, but I've always liked the idea of makinr your evil empire and becoming th evil sorcerer king with your monster hoards . Btw, there aren't any monster based games, but choiceofgames have a free game entitled choice of the dragon, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. It was I believe their first title and does have the disadvantage of rather running on rales and being nearly impossible to fail at, however it does have rather witty descriptions of you as a town ravaging, princess munching, gold hoarding dragon. I'm particularly amused at the start that you can decide whether you want
to have kidnapped a princess or a prince, and whether you follow a traditional female only employment policy on your royal snacks (or randsome victims), or whether you buck the trend and prefer to do princes only, or whether your beastial apitites swing both ways .I've actually played that one a couple of times through and had great fun being either a noble and fairly sporting dragon, and a totally dispicable monster .I also like the fact that if you get the game for Ios, you can get game center achievements too for things like finishing with a high brutality or infamy stat.

LOL! Rampage sounds like a rewrite of the old Crush, Crumble, Chomp game I used to play. That game was always a blast!I played the Dungeon Keeper games until I lost my vision. They were fun, but not quite as much as CCC was.

Re: clomp clomp clomp!

I picked up diabolical while it was on offer, I've not played it yet, maybe I shal save it for my eight hours on the plane to the states . As to evil though, yeah, it has it's  attractions. There used to be a game on the amigar called rampage, it was an arcade type game where you played three players, one a giant kingkong style gorilla, one a godzilla like lizard, and one a giant wolf man. You finished each level by smashing up all the buildings on screen, while being attacked by hellicopters and tanks. You could crush cars, eat people fleeing from the buildings for energy, stomp through bridges, lots of fun stuff like that it was awesome! . What was particularly amusing is while pounding the buildings you could get special stuff in them
, like eating giant pot plants inside some huge high rise buildings would let you breathe fire temporarily, or occasionally you would find a bank where you could swallow the gold bars from the safe for temporary invincibility. At the end of each stage the score screen was a newspaper report telling you how many hundreds of millions of dollars worth of damage you caused. I think Diabolical is more a supervillain type of thing, but rampage was certainly fun to play . Another game series I've always wanted to play are the dungeon keeper games. These were sort of like building style games, accept that instead of building a city or a settlement or a theme park, you build a monster filled dungeon. Different monsters could breed making stronger ones, and you could harvest musrhooms and stuff from the rocks. there were missions to do, and occasionally you'd
have heroes enter your dungeon to try and loot it and get treasure, and you could set your monsters on them. Actually, with games like Parkboss and castaways and such now becoming very easily doable in audio, I could imagine an audio version of such a game, that would rock! though of course to make it interesting, like the original dungeon keeper the behaviour of your monsters would need to be a little randomized.

Re: clomp clomp clomp!

The game where you play the evil sounds like fun. Always being the good guy gets boring after a while.Back in the 80s, during the Apple 2's heyday, the was a game called Crush, Crumble, Chomp. In it, you play some monster like those that populate the Saturday afternoon B movies on TV. Your goal is to destroy as much of the city as you can before the denizens manage to kill you.It was loads of fun!
