Re: getting back into alter aeon Hi.If you are using mush z to play alter, another nice feature of the client is the map creation feature. I use this all the time when I go to areas in groups or something that I don't think i'll be able to walk to again. I just create a map to that area, exicute it, and it autowalks me there. I use this a lot for some of the areas I solo. I created an alias that every time I log in, and type it, it will take me to recall and then autowalk me to the temple, tell the code to the priest. so yeah. I can pretty much get to the temple in 5 seconds, no matter where I am! Re: getting back into alter aeon Locutus,Depending on what your primary class is, you might experience some slowdown around level 24-25, but you shouldn't be completely overwhelmed by then. With all the quests and deeds and areas to grind in, I can usually be comfortable even around level 28 or so. At that point, your ability to group is apt to get people to ask you to join them, but you're under no obligation to do so. If you'd rather keep cool and learn bits and pieces on your own, then do that. Go to the mainland around level 28-30, and explore around Ralnoth itself...see what you can handle. Necromancers, with a little complement of minions, are excellent at doing this.The mainland is huge. I'm really really eager to get to a point where I can solo a lot of it, if not all of it. I've seen some areas that I couldn't dream of soloing any time soon, but that's fine, because I've seen many areas - travelled through them in groups and such - that look soloable i f you're careful and at a sufficient level. There are dozens upon dozens of areas and quests, so if you don't let yourself get overwhelmed by the grouping aspect - and that might be key - then you should do all right.Good luck to ya. He hasn't been logged in for two and a half years though, and we've made a lot of updates and added a lot of stuff since then (there's even a new class!) The level 25-30 range still isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be, but it should be a LOT better than it was when you were playing Vastator. Let me know if you still have problems there. I might be off by a few levels either way, it's been a while. But yeah, at that point I started being invited into more group-related stuff... But once the heat of that wore off, I found myself becoming rapidly overwhelmed whenever I tried to go out by myself.Mind you, the more I think about it the more tempted I am to go back in there, if for no other reason than to see all the new stuff that's been added. Maybe I'll try to return to some more familiar territory, just to get my bearings, then see if I have any better luck soloing this time around. You can set them in the game to reduce the amount of typing; for example, I often create an alias for the two letters 'sa' to get gold from a corpse, then sac the corpse.Regarding grouping at high levels, it's not required. There will always be a few monsters that you just can't kill on your own no matter how powerful you are, but there's a lot of very high level players that hardly ever group and play solo most of the time.Locutus, what level did you get to before you started running into trouble? For example, for me, to soulsteal I just need to press f2 since I set the aliase that way.EDIT: forgot to say that one aliase can execute many commands, so for example you could make a spellup aliase that will cast all sorts of spells on you instead of just one. So just make the spellup aliase however you like, and type in the aliase to have your self spelled up in no time!No, its not ultimitly required, but its highly encouraged. Re: getting back into alter aeon I've been tempted to return there myself, but the idea of relearning all the quirks of the game, plus all the aliases I made, is rather discouraging. Plus, let's not forget the reason I stopped playing in the first place, which was a feeling that, after I got to a certain level in the game, I basically couldn't keep advancing as a solo player any more. Grouping can be interesting for a bit, but the sped-up, blurry way that the game progressed for me from that point onward made me just leave. I guess this is why I generally prefer first-person, plot-driven games with a storyline rather than multiplayer, team-oriented gaming.
