Re: a type of game that I would love to see made accessible for the blind

You know what I want, An accessible game very similar to Toribash. Toribash is unique in that it is a fighting game almost in the form of a turn based strategy. What you need to do is manipulate all the parts of your body to make moves. So this really comes down to your joints, so like each joint has 4 states, held, relaxed, extending and contracting. Some joints replace ext. and cont. with raise, lower. bend left, right, etc. The point is you need to manipulate your entire body, for something as simple as a kick isn't just about the knee. If you screw up, even if you hit the opponent, if you don't know how to use your entire body, you'll most likely lose your balance and fall over. Now, Toribash has a lot of mods, and in a bunch of them, you have disqualification. Some mods you are only disqualified if you go outside the ring, or dojo, but others you are disqualified if anything but your hands or feet are touching the ground, meaning that you really do need to use
your whole body. The fighters are called Tori and Uke, I think these represent Japanese for attacker and defender. Well, in free play, you can control both, and practice your moves, then you can challenge Uke who will then be controlled by the AI. Once you get good, there are online matches between you and other fighters. There are countless ways to customize your Tori in the shop, with currency called TC, or Tori Credits. If you get good, you can start fighting in tournaments and win TC. The online system has rankings and they're expressed in what color belt you've attained. Newbies start out as a white belt, and you can get to like black belt and beyond. It's a really cool concept, I don't know how it could be audiolized, but it would be damn cool if it could be.P.S. I almonst forgot, so when you do all the things in a turn you want to do, you hit space to advance. Now, each mod has a specific number of frames that go by when you hit space, so its hugely
diversified. You can also hit shift space to go one frame at a time.

What do you have to do in these kind of games? I mean you have to survive, have a good job, health, etc or something else?

Thing is though, if you can't code it, it ain't happening. Well, unless you have the cash to hire out programmers, but then you'd need really tight outlines down to the most minute details.

Re: a type of game that I would love to see made accessible for the blind

I agree ironcross, I tried playing with the radegast client, and while it does give you all the sounds and interactions with people, going to events as well as hosting them Etc, as well as the ability to get lindens, I still gave it up for the most part since you still couldn't build there and that was one of the things that wows me about second life is the fact that you can literally build anything from a pair of shoes clear on up to a whole world like an island or apartment building or a shop to sell your creations in. That would actually be another cool thing that someone could do come to think of it, survive the wild is pretty good but he doesn't even have buildable buildings implamented yet.

SL sucks with text client, trust me, you can't do a tenth of what you can do with the graphical client.

Second Life and The Sims are pretty different, even if they both try to sorta kinda be like virtual worlds.http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/193984-the-sims/faqs/7484(It's kinda tough to find walkthroughs without ascii art. This one seems to be more nicely formatted than one of the larger ones I could find. I'm sure a sighted reader would have the opposite opinion, but whatever.)

Re: a type of game that I would love to see made accessible for the blind

Generally speaking The Sims has no purpose, its the digitial equivalent of playing with dolls and or lego. I have a relative who loves creating characters who have lots of pets for example, building their careers, houses, furnature, etc.Second Life is an entirely different beast, its more like the bastard offspring of a 3D modeller, scripting engine, and an MMO. You can more or less create anything, and its had its share of controversy as a result, but its generally more about sharing creativity, socializing, role  play, etc. I think a large part of why the text client is so limited is because it can't adequately convey 3D modelling, and development of audio interfaces for 3D archetecture has been rather limited up to this point. I think that level of crafting might be possible using a combination of Meijer Rendering with a more scripting based modelling approach like Povray 3D, though.kind of harvest moon game will be nice
... smileHeh, exactly what I thought when he mentioned farming games. On a different note, what about surgery games like Trauma Center: Under The Knife for Nintendo DS?

Re: a type of game that I would love to see made accessible for the blind

Oh no, all that blood and guts isn't for me. I've thought of that too actually, and for those of you who don't know, animal crossing is also by Nintendo and it's a life simulation game in which you take on the roll of a human living in a village full of animals with human-like personalities. Days and seasons pass in real time because the game relys on the console's internal clock to keep track of time and there are even holidays and events that happen through out the year. I would love to see a game like that come out as well for the computer and it be totally accessible for the blind or maybe even on a console. I'm impressed with how much gaming knollege some of you have, it's very encouraging to me because it makes me realize that I'm not by myself in wishing that game consoles were completely accessible to the blind and I'm not the only one who wants to be able to sit down in front of a console and play games completely without sight
ed help like the rest of you. And as far as harvest moon, no thanks, that game was just a bit too cartoon-like for me. If I'm going to play an accessible farming game, let it be farming simulator for the ps4 and other systems. Now there's a real farming game that shows real farms and their machinery rather than a cartoon farm world. This is turning out to be a very fun discussion. I'm glad I came back and decided to take an active roll in the forums. You guys are very talkative and willing to share your thoughts and views.

The time I watched someone play this game, he did it more quickly by building a swimming pool with no ladder. They'll usually get a skill point just before drowning. He was trying to maximize money without caring about the Sims' health or happiness, so naturally some of them wound up getting sick or depressed and skipped
work. It was a horrible family hated by their neighbors and the most skilled member wound up leaving after getting in too many fights. Not... not quite how I'd play it, but that's pretty much the only Sims story I have.)

a type of game that I would love to see made accessible for the blind

Hello everyone. I wanted to get your take on a specific game type that isn't out there right now but one that I'm sure lots of you would love to see including me. I wish someone would create a sims like game, and I don't mean like sim city either but rather the sims games where you have to pick your sim or sims and guide their lives. I would love to see a game like this in audio form and was wondering what you guys all thought. No I'm not trying to make this myself because as you all know I can't code my way out of a home security system so I'm waiting for someone smarter than me to build this kind of game. Have a wonderful day everyone and let's chat about this. I'm very interested to hear your thoughts. I would also like to see a farming game of some kind as well as a restront building game and also a game like animal crossing. If you need clarification on what kind of game animal crossing is, ask me and I'll fill you in. Have a wonde
 rful day and let's talk.
