The ball will not be instantly destroyed unless you're on a higher difficulty.The only things that can damage the ball are:Magical edge, miracle edge and the explosion caused by a destroyed piece of magic.I don't think there is anything else.The ball has 2000 hp, so you're attacks probably won't damage it much, even with the edge. You need a specific weapon to even damage it or a trick that cheeses the fight, however the trick doesn't net you the xp.Spoilers for the weaponI think you need one of the edges to even damage it. The magical edge works, but the fight would take forever using it. I would recommend using it to craft the miracle edge and using that. Note that you'll need the magical edge to get through this fight regardless since it's the only thing that reflects the lightning it casts to form magical pieces.Spoilers for the cheesing strategyIt's been a while since I did this, but If you somehow blow up one of the magical pieces when the ball is near it, the ball is instantly destroyed. You need to do this to get enough pieces to craft the miracle edge anyway I think (that is, get enough magical pieces plus one, then blow up the remaining piece to get out of the level). Make sure you have a couple of those c4 bombs, get to 20.3, and use a super ufo bought from the bonus shop to float up to something like 40/27 or something. The number escapes me at the moment. Then, detonate a couple bombs, and it will spawn the magical ball. The only weapon that will kill it is the magical edge, which involves finding that weapon in the tutorial area, I think the fourth one. Depending on your level, it may take some doing.
