Re: linux, a newbie questions
Re: linux, a newbie questions Right, so you do absolutely 0 research, find a cracked version, then use it because cracked. And now you won't even do a simple google search, again because cracked. Fucking typical.@rings, just found this, in the thing's official readme, mind, took me less than a minute of searching. The Demise of the Skype Desktop APIskcmd.py and all other Skype apps depend on the availability of the Skype Desktop API. This is a rich programming interface that makes just about all Skype desktop functionality available to apps. It allows inventive and powerful 3rd party telephony apps to be built around Skype for free. It is a mature and well documented part of the Skype ecosystem. In July 2013 Microsoft announced that they were killing off this API in favour of a new SkypeURI interface. This interface has vastly reduced functionality, to the point where its almost useless. SkypeURI is unusable for skcmd, and I suspect for a lot of other apps too.The announcement says that the Desktop API will begin to stop working in September 2013, and that apps should start using SkypeURI right away.SkypeURI is not currently available for Linux, so if the Desktop API does stop working, skcmd.py is sunk. Even when it does become available, it is of no use at all, so skcmd.py is still sunk.As of September 3 2013, skcmd.py was still fully functioning, so enjoy it while you can! If you want to here more, tell me and I'll give you my discord.regarding skype and electron based apps in general, I don't even know how to use ubuntu mate desktop, my desktop is gnome3, it's good enough for what I need from a linux desktop, as I use the terminal most of the time anyway.DK about skype as I don't use it anymore, but install discord and try this:discord --force-renderer-accessibilityBoom! Now you have the same accessibility as in discord for windows and, perhaps, mac OS as well.DK, however, for what is the --enable-carret-browsing option I've seen used in pprevious examples? isn't it included in --force-renderer-accessibility? Re: linux, a newbie questions
Re: linux, a newbie questions Phoenix, keep in mind that the application in question has to actually be electron or chromium based. This isn't some fix everything parameter for all inaccessible UI's.The way I personally do it is by adding a shortcut to the desktop, then editing it's properties, then adding the --force-renderer-accessibility parameter from there. Btw at jasek, you can't actually type chrome or whatever to invoke it from the terminal, it has its own weird little command, I forget the exact string, but if you add a desktop shortcut, it'll already be there regardless, you just have to add --force-renderer-accessibility on top of it.BTW, and sorry for going slightly off topic, but I've been seriously considering switching to linux fully myself. My only questions, and this first 1 may seem kind of trivial, but I absolutely love TWBlue. Anything even remotely similar on linux? Also, any way to disable use screen lay out in orca like you can with NVDA? I *hate* when browsing this forum, for instance, having to deal with link new posts visited link active topics visited link unanswered topics, all in 1 giant cluster, then having to tab or do k / shift + K in order to actually find what I want. Same when viewing post information on here, though admittedly less so, I still have to read that entire block to get the date a post was submitted, for instance, not to mention a myriad of other things. I also hate how, in chrome, when using --force-renderer-accessibility, it won't remember your position when going back a page, or whatever. Incredibly frustrating.I also have yet to dive in to the world of team talk for linux, but anyone here used it before and can comment on its accessibility? Also, and admittedly this is slightly out of the scope of TT, but being able to root system audio is another big must for me.Oh, and speaking of that, anything similar to mmsys.cpl on linux? At least, as far as viewing and managing sound devices is concerned? I'm thinking changing default input / output, listen to this device, enhancements / surround sound settings, if supported by the soundcard / headset, my logitech can do this, etc?Oh and, I've just about lost track of the amount of also's by now, good VPN's?Sadly I strongly doubt anything on linux even comes close to foobar 2000. That is something I'll, painfully, have to learn to live without. Re: linux, a newbie questions
Re: linux, a newbie questions Not the alt+f1 main menuI meant the main menu editor, which is..Alt F1, system, preferences, look and feel, main menuGo into that and you will be able to follow the steps I outlined aboveOr if you want to just launch it as a one offf, you can do so from a terminal by doing skype or skypeforlinux --force-renderer-accessibility --enable-caret-browsing URL: https://forum.audiogames.net/post/588429/#p588429 -- Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
