Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Arcam Solo Movie 2.1

However, it seems that your problems are caused by a noisy NAS, which is not going to be solved by a Solo Movie, and by an inadequate amp, which is unlikely to be improved upon massively by a 5.1 amp with DSP. So I'd fix the noise problem - either remove from the room, encase or replace. Then fix the amp problem - and I would recommend considering valves if you like jazz and classical. -- adamslim Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others SB+, EAR V20, Living Voice OBX-R2s plus some other stuff SB3, Charlize, Harbeth HL-P3ES adamslim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7355 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43024 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Newbie question: what's the better DAC? SB2 or amp?

Darren Unless you always look at the component whilst playing music :-) I'd say it doesn't matter one bit how you do the comparison, blind, double blind, deaf, mute... As long as you feel you pick whatever you like best, who cares how you decided? Not like you're going to spend a ton of money depending on the outcome. Also, if you've ripped some DTS music, it might be easier to by default use the receiver's dac, to avoid being startled if you try to play that DTS album through the SB2 dac! (Or when the wife tries to play it.) If you were deciding between, say, a $1000 dac and the internal SB2 dac, I'd recommend a lot of possibly blind testing... jan -- jmourik jmourik's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7123 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43080 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
