Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] What is a Transporter SE?
Pretty ridiculous. I don't use the knob all that often but I when I do I like the option to control everything from the device without reaching for the remote or my Ipod Touch running Ipeng. In fact I never use the remote anymore and when I misplace the Ipod I just use the knob/buttons on the device. Transnav knob is unnecessarily over-engineered with the feedback/stopper function. Boom/Radio's knob would have been just fine. I don't understand why Logitech would not modify Transporter to use just it. I might have bought another one, but for a hacked version they came up with just to get rid of some leftover parts - NO THANKS! -- unclemat unclemat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33372 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84281 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] What is a Transporter SE?
I certainly wouldn't miss either the knob or the second VFD. I have the second VFD turned off on mine, an if I were experiencing the degaussing noise that others have reported I'd open up the Transporter and disconnect the knob entirely. A Boom knob would not only have been fine, but better, IMO. Not only would it not have needed the degaussing weirdness, it has a much better feel to it than the transnav thing. (But remember that the Boom came after the Transporter, so there was no way to know it at the time.) Still, I doubt that I would ever use it. I certainly can't imagine Logitech investing anything in refitting the design to use a different knob when they know most people don't use it. My guess is that they're just trying to clear out some leftover parts by selling Transporters without knobs. -- JJZolx JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84281 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] What is a Transporter SE?
To each his own. For me it's not about music quality but about the whole package. Two VFDs are unrivaled and just classy and being able to control everything via knob/buttons on the device is great. -- unclemat unclemat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33372 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84281 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
