Diablo was great until I hit about 3500' when the upper half of the
quads on my right leg cramped. Hurt like hell. Doubled the
electrolyte concentration of my water bottle, waited for the pain to
subside and continued climbing. Got to the top (3864') and drank a
whole bottle of gatoraid. Thankfully that was it for climbing for the
day.

You'll get the best out of the Touch by connecting it to a better DAC,
imo.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] soundcheck's Touch Toolbox 2.0

2011-07-09 Thread soundcheck

Hi guys.

Router/network related issues are ususally causing some kind of
rebuffering issues. We're talking about timeframes of a couple of
seconds where crackling would occur.

Alsa related underruns causing usually some kind of scratchy
continous sound.

Since I got my new router in place network related issues completely
disappeard. Modern style routers are made for handling multiple
HD-video-streams at the same time. They'll be able to cope quite well
with our native-flac streams.
If you think about upgrading check out e.g. the upper range Linksys
products.

For the hackers around here: Look for DD-WRT/openWRT compatibility.
This way you can play around with tailor-made firmware, different
settings, additional features and sometimes even better performance.

Cheers

Thanks chaps. The crackling is only when changing something-flicking
between favourites for example. I guess I might just have to put the
 buffer back to 2.

Sure you have all the sound effects turned off? Or is there some kind
of plugin or something else you have going that is trying to make a
sound effect?

Have you tried disabling all plugins and seeing if that makes a
difference?

[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Transporter Popping Sounds

2011-07-09 Thread shamanjr

I just purchased a Transporter with the tube output. I love the sound,
but the unit has a loud pop whenever it switches from normal resolution
to 24/96 or 24/88. It is very annoying, especially since my Duets do
not do this (although they do not play the hi defs natively). Is this
really a known bug or an issue with my particular unit? Cannot imagine
that this would go unrecognized, although I only found one post about it
via Google. Really like the unit, but not sure that I want to have to
turn the volume down every time I change sources. Thanks.

I do not have a modded version of The Transporter. Mine does not make
any pops. It must be because of the modds not done right. Especially
when using tubes there is a risk of POPs.

The standard, official Transporter does not do this. Your unofficially
modded unit may be at fault.

No. The standard Transporter is a very very fine equipment out of the
box. It was way before it's time, and still today it is a fine
player/DAC.
A shame to modd it. It's just my opinion.
