Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Squeezebox Touch with AudioQuest Jitterbug

Tried it - no change for better or worse. Left it in for as long as I
was using the Touch. FWIW - I also heard no improvement from a linear
PSU on the Touch in my system.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Amarra software

I don't know if these add-on programs are worth what they cost either,
but have any of you trashing them (and Stereophile's coverage of them)
actually heard them?

If there is one thing I've learned in this hobby, it's don't dismiss or
believe anything until you hear it your self.

Not trolling, just wondering.

Thanks

[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Anyone sell a longer DC cord?

2011-02-01 Thread ismarketing

I have a channel Islands audio PSU for my Touch, but the cord is too
short for my current needs. Does anyone make a longer DC-to-DC cord?
I checked Wellborne and Boulder, but they only offer cords with custom
connections for their PSU's.

I called CI Audio, and they can help.

Any ideas? I'm looking for a 1-2m cable.

Thanks

PS - I know I 'could' make one myself, but I lack any and all sodering
skills.

The new One.two looks great for the price. Be sure to add one of the

Another vote for the Channel Islands Audio PSU. Everyone seems to have
an opinion about the value of these things - which is likely why CIA has
a 30 trial.

Take what you see here with helping of salt and trust your own ears.
If you like what you hear - enjoy. If not, Dusty will take it back.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Anyone use the Squeezepak PSU?

2010-01-05 Thread ismarketing

Just got this last night. Connected with a Shunyata Research
Diamondback AC cable, my SB3 sounds more open, with better placement of
things in the soundstage, and far tighter bass.

Is it night and day - no. Is it better and more relaxed sounding -
absolutely.

1 nit about the Channel Islands Supply. The box itself is very well
designed and built, but the DC power cable they provide is actually
cheezier than the power cord that comes with the Sqeezebox. For the
price - they could to better.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] mini monitor dilemma

2009-09-01 Thread ismarketing

i have two SB Classics and run Silverline Minuets on one and PSB
AlphaB's on the other. Both are small, efficient, and sound very
natural.

The PSB are a bit less expensive and have more bottom end extension.
The Silverlines are much smaller, more refined in the midrange and on
top, and can be bi-wired.

I think Stereophile ranks the Minuets a class C and the Alpha's a class
D.

FWIW - I drive the Minuets with a Virtue 1 amp and the PSB's with a
little Trends. Both combos sound really sweet.

Good luck.

The rosewood finish of the Silverline Minuets is pretty dark. Not black
of course, but very dark brown.

Search for them on Audiogon. There a good seller there who offers them
new at decent discount and you can talk him down a bit from his posted
price.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Managing Both Lossless and Lossy Files

I use simplify media to make all the files in my itunes library (320k
mp3's and Apple lossless) available anywhere on my windows laptop, my
wife's macbook and in time, on the iphone that's likely in my future.

If you just want access to the files on the go and you always have
connectivity, this might be an option without the hassle of duplicate
libraries.

It's also free. Doesn't help if you're on a plane though.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Affordable PSU Upgrades for Classic

2009-06-10 Thread ismarketing

Thanks iPhone. I every system I own (3), improving power delivery
through cords or a PS Audio power plant has made a significant
difference in my enjoyment of the music.

Side note - A new Virtue One Amp with their 130w PSU fed by a classic
Synergistic Master Coupler - wow!

If I can screw around with the sound of the SB classic for $20 or so
and maybe improve it, that sounds like more fun than measuring to me.

Again - any links to regulated power supplies I could try are
appreciated.

Thanks.

Again - any links would be appreciated and thanks.

[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Affordable PSU Upgrades for Classic

2009-06-08 Thread ismarketing

Hi all,

I'd like to see if a power supply update makes an audible difference on
my SB v3, but I don't want to pay $200 to experiment.

It seems that the Elpac model that is plug and play with the SB is no
longer made. If anyone has links to an alternative, they would be
appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Power supply DAC for my SB3 - recommendations?

I'm new to the SB, but the Dacmagic made a very nice improvement in the
sound of my office Roku Soundbridge. Much more relaxed, better
soundstage, and more natural sounding midrange. $400 in the US.

So you guys think the Boulder Cable PSU or Channel Islands PSU's are
wastes if you are using the analog outs on the SB?

Thanks.

Try and Trends 10.1 amp, a pair of Silverline Minuets (both used on

I have this in my bedroom and the sound is wonderful. A big step up on
the amp is the new Virtue Audio One. Not much more money for much
better,bigger sound.
