I don't think the test can be considered accurate at higher rates any
more :-/

just try with the highest possible rate the player can accept in
transporter case 24/96 sent as WAV/PCM if that works you are ok this is
almost 3k btw

A lot of factors are in play here. Where is the LMS server located
from the Transporter? How far is your wireless router from the
 Transporter and Server?

A network test as I understand it, is the systems ability to stream
music at different Kps rate (someone chime in if I have it wrong), so
your 3000Kps vs. 35% is throwing everyone off. Normally the percent
repercent the signal strengh of the wireless signal. And at 35% is
very low and could cause issues streaming Flac files or other Hi res
 music.

Its about 18feet away in the other room and is almost line of sight.
Funny thing is I have never managed to get more than 85% before at
3000kbps.

LMS if I remember the max I can select via the (duet handset) is
1500kbps whats with that anyway, has the server been scaled down?

The only reason I tried the tests was because on a hi rez 24bit
1200kbps album through LMS it had this stuttery not quite skipping
thing that was happening.
I'm going to try this album later on squeezebox server but now for some
reason I can't seem to get that working, I'll re-install it and try
again.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Data Rate Kbps

2012-03-01 Thread Triode

Assuming you are testing to a classic player then I think the difference
is likely to be some changes to the firmware which slowed down the
maximum rate that network test would run at. So I agree its not as
accurate now as it used to be (unfortunately). In contrast network
test on squeezeplay players should be more accurate in recent builds.

I'm not even sure what you're asking?

What data rate are you talking about? What's the percentage you're
quoting?

Test

I'm using the same computer everything, to the transporter wirelessly,
the only thing I'm changing is from

Squeezebox Server 7.5.1
I get (displayed) on my Transporter 100% at 3000Kbps on the network
test.

to

If I run LMS
I'm only getting 35% at 1500Kbps

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Data Rate Kbps

2012-02-29 Thread toby10

I'd also make sure that only one instance of SB server is running for
each test. Verify through system processes that you don't have
multiple SB services running.

I'd also disable the UPnP/DLNA portion of LMS for a more accurate
test/comparison, if that might be causing an issue.

What are you trying to accomplish by comparing the two server versions?
