I think you'll find that most people who were born in Great Britain tend to call themselves British, with the exception of those who are pround of their locality, who will probably call themselves English, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish, etc. According to someone from Northern Ireland I used to work with, the situation there is that the population is divided between those who consider themselves British and those who consider themselves Irish. This generally tallies with the Protestant/Catholic distinction, although of course there are plenty of non-religious people in N.Ireland. The British Isles includes the Republic of Ireland, of course. As far as I can tell, this quality has nothing to do with pace, timing or rhythm, though I can kind of see how some kind of phase or frequency distortion in the bass might have some effect on perceptions of it. A lot of bass overhang, say, might obscure the rhythm section. Who are these British of whom you speak ? I can't think of any population group in the UK who would claim to call themselves British. The Empire is long gone too. I think of myself as British, but I'm an Anglo Saxon born in one of the colonies, and as such I'm very much in the minority. Here's what you do to clean up the mess: 1) Get a Tice Magic Clock and plug it into an outlet in your son's room. 2) Next get a AC outlet noise eliminator (similar to the ENACOM - AC LINE NOISE ELIMINATOR) and plug that into a different outlet in your son's room.
