Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Headless Touch
You can write a script and give it the right name and put it on an SD card or USB stick and it will get run at boot time. (I don't remember the name of the file off the top of my head). You could put the commands to start up the SSH server in this script, no need to turn it on with the display. Once you can get in you can modify the startup scripts so you don't need the USB/SD anymore. You can do a lot of things with this script if you want. Eeh ? most Touch owners have probably never heard of these mods  it would be a very small group (compared to the whole user base ) But it is catch it wont accept ssh until this function is enabled and well you could not enable it via ssh as it is not enabled it is no way around that you have to select that option with the display and it will be enabled untill you do a factory reset . And the initial setup procedure is done with the display no way around that either. But once ssh is enabled and network is connected, changing things with ssh is an option for us. For example you can change networks settings via ssh, but obviously if you do it wrong , you would have to activate the display again (factory reset ) to get it up and running . There is no way around that if it's not on the network no script in the world could reach it and the display is the only option. -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub. [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Headless Touch
Most of the touch owners by now have used Soundcheck's TT2.0. Which means Touch is by now reduced to pure receiver. Then why we have the display still connected. JohnSwenson has mentioned that the the headless Touch with other mods sounds better that a good DAC. Is is possible to create a script that bypasses Touch's internal scripts and enables SSH by default, may be also connects to an ethernet. There would be many experts who would have done it. It is possible to share it for the benefit of untechnical and aspiring audiophiles like myself! -- lake_eleven lake_eleven's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=48979 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90739 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
