Hi there.

Deletion requests should be made in the own package's page in the

I accidentally pushed a new package to "kayan-gtk-theme-git" instead of
"krayan-gtk-theme-git" this morning (now both exist and I will only
update the latter) and would like to request it's removal. Apologies
for the disturbance.

Which is still version bump with added dependency. I wouldn't need to
change pkgrel if I would add this dependency along with version bump.

Anyways I accept your critics and going to rewrite history of my

So relay that relevant information.

git commit -m 'upstream release'

(https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/any/aurpublish/ will even
cleverly insert this exact commit message for you, if it detects a

Hi Antonio, hi community

You've requested deletion of ipython-7 package, mainaned by me with 2
comments:

1. Duplicate of python-prompt_toolkit
2. absurd commit messages

You mean I've requested deletion of ipython-7 as a duplicate of ipython,
and of python-prompt_toolkit-2 as a duplicate of python-prompt_tolkit

1. Yes, it's duplicate, but it wasn't at a time of publishing. I'll
tell you more: community was long behind AUR at that moment because it
needs more time to go from upstream to community and less time from
upstream to AUR.

Regardless of the original situation - they are now clear duplicates.

2. Comments are absolutely random, but… I just think that when there
are no important changes in repository, just version bumps then no
comment can make sense. Of course I'm absolutely ready to rewrite
history to make them just normal boring comments.

No matter how unimportant or boring they may seem to you, relevant commit
messages are fundamental for any kind of serious public repository. Using
such random, facetious commit messages is unacceptable. In any case, that's
not the main reason for the deletion request.

While both of them are true I would like to comment on both:

If you think that it's not the case — then we can safely delete it

[aur-general] Deletion request for python-libtorrent-rasterbar

2016-07-31 Thread Charles Pigott via aur-general
After I noticed this package had gone missing from the AUR (git repo
was still available, package page was 404ing), I resurrected it as it
had broken the dependency for magnet2torrent-git

Interestingly, the packaging and install somehow worked fine for me
the first time, but then it was pointed out to me that there were file
conflicts between it and one of its own dependencies,
libtorrent-rasterbar. All of the files in the python package, for
instance. Which happen to be all of the files in it.

As such, python-libtorrent-rasterbar has been fully replaced by
libtorrent-rasterbar and can be (re-)removed from AUR. I'll work on
getting the dependency on magnet2torrent fixed instead.

All done. I've removed both google-translate packages since they both are
orphaned and out-of-dated and they have same PKGBUILDs (so they both have link

2014-04-23 Thread Nowaker

I thought it was permissible to point to binaries just as long as you
don't include binaries in the tarball that's uploaded to the AUR.

There is no strict rule for this - it's rather common sense. Binaries
built by the upstream are OK (but if sources are available, then of
course it's better to use them, but there's no obligation). Binaries
from other sources... it depends. If you download some non-executable
data like fonts, then it's justifiable too as long as checksums are
provided. Executable from odd-looking sources on the internet, or
self-compiled executables are not.

115backup-gtk2 and 115backup-gtk3 are OK - they download the sources
directly from the upstream. Upstream doesn't provide sources. Skype
works the same way.

I attempted to fix this packages, but to no avail, it does not
compile, upstream has not made a release since 2010. Also there is
concern that certain core commands, like mount for instance, break
horribly resulting in some cases in the system being unable to boot.

 There is a wiki article:

removed since it directly references this broken package and only this

Just want to add a note here:

You can always recover the latest PKGBUILD of a deleted package at the
PKGBUILD url (and the whole package at the tarball url). For example:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/fu/fusecompress-git/PKGBUILD
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/fu/fusecompress-git/fusecompress-git.tar.gz

These URL are easy to remember (add the first two letters before the $pkgname
url part, and then PKGBUILD or $pkgname.tar.gz), and won't be purged even
after the package itself were removed from AUR.

This would be a better way to 'recover' things than looking on the AUR git
archive :)

I attempted to fix this packages, but to no avail, it does not
compile, upstream has not made a release since 2010. Also there is
concern that certain core commands, like mount for instance, break
horribly resulting in some cases in the system being unable to boot.

There is a wiki article:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Color_wrapper that should also be
removed since it directly references this broken package and only this
package.

Sorry, I accidentally deleted the fusecompress-git package while trying to
merge the fusecompress package. I recovered the latest version from the AUR Git
archive but it was woefully outdated so I wonder if the deleted version was
somehow newer.

I have uploaded and orphaned an updated PKGBUILD to replace the deleted one.
The build currently fails due to an allegedly missing build target ("install")
and I unfortunately don't have the time right now to resolve it. I'm hoping
that the previous maintainer will re-adopt the package and deal with this.

I have CC'd the maintainer listed in the archived PKGBUILD.

7 votes were also lost. Culpa mea.

The fusecompress package has been merged now.

Cmd. Klutz
