Unfortunately, John Shelton is no longer flying sailplanes. John sold the Ventus C quite a few years ago. The last owner didn't initially know about John's alter ego Pez, couldn't understand why people referred to his glider as "The Lingus". Most of the characters (from US Region 12, Southern California) would be unfamiliar unless you've seen Ittner, Gimmey, or others at International comps or in (US) Soaring magazine. An Australian version is sometimes found in "Keep Soaring". I've seen where 36 was calculated to be the optimum AR for an 18M glider. A bloke in Austria had a design for an 18M glider some years ago. Originally AR 47 or so, later revised to 36. Fly Shift. Website had disappeared last I looked. Hopefully the water ballast system will be better than the one in the Quintus.
