[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Can not print the group totals in the report

2005-02-13 Thread abdulabsi

Hi all,
I am facing a problem in viewing the group totals in one of the
reports.I did some settings which works just fine with other
reports!!.

1- in the desgin I selected Generate from Spec. Query
2-I defined the fields need to be summed by selecting SumAll
property of each field need to be summed
3-I added a AccountNum field under the Sorting menu of my data source
to make the group totals printed each time this field value changes.

BUT, the FETCH method of this report has been overwriiten to make
the report read from a temp. table...

PLease till if the fetch methods affects the printing of the group
totals. And if yes please provide a solutio

Thanks,
Absi

Hi,

To upload Item Master, BOM , Routings with large amount of data, MS-SQL
DTS is better option, other way is to create a CSV files. We had the same
problem in one of our implementation where we had around 700K records in BoM it
took us 5 hours to upload using CSV and the upload was done on directly on
Server, though we used combination of Access/Excel and converting to Text (CSV)
files , but I think using MS-SQL DTS is better option anytime. We seriously
thought about writting a tool to pump the data, but since our implementation
deadline was tight we thought of not doing that, but now we are re-thinking
about it.

Hey sorry for my third mail on this. something else came into my

n't give me the access ( kidding ! ). Did you try to load directly in SQL using
DTS?. how does sound. I guess its a worth to give a try..

Hi,

Presently I am migrating master data into Axapta.

1. Axapta is relatively slow for Excel as it uses COM for
communication. It took approximately 2 hours to upload ~ 9000 records in just
only one Table ( invnetTable).

So I wrote jobs that read from the flat file and Individually inserts
into the Tables. And for every records in InventTable, there would a record in
InventDim and InventItemLocation. By default Axapta takes 'Axapta' as the
InventDimId. And then you need to map that in IntemLocation..if you have wares
houses , then you need to InventDim::findorCreate to generate the inventId and
attch it to the InventItemLocation.or you will not see them in the ItemMaster
form.

In the same way, I wrote jobs for ConfigTable for COnfigurations,
reqItemTable for Item coverages and InventDimCombination for Cost prices. And
then wares houses and locations blah blah...Its really pain...but If you can
write jobs, that would be easier I feel...We use conversion studio..But I feel
it handles multiple formats. but when it comes the data volume, it takes almost
same time..

Please let me know fi you need anything as I have already written
scripts...

Hi Harry

I may have crossed-paths on problems, Was
You problem the same as this one?

Anything to add?

This was My Experience

My first experience with Annual
Stocktaking was quite miserable. Firstly I had created my counting journals too
early and the Stock on hand was taken as at the date of printing the journals,
Do not print your journals too early for processing, Duplicate your system and
than print them out so you can get everyone ready. Creating the Counting
jounral on the day of the stock take. In my circumstances , we operate about 15
Warehouses national, and each Item Number must have a cross reference in the
item form, under setup called warehouse items. Each Item number needs to have
the associated warehouse loaded into here so. otherwise axapta locks the item
number against the first warehouse that is processed. I thought this
cross-reference would have been created by the actual transactions for that
item in the warehouse where it has been used. (Otherwise when Stocktake is
processed it keep saying that the item was locked, and it stops the flow)

Now I am on Axapta 3.00 sp1 , so I not
sure whether this affects you, but I hope they have solved this problem in the
next release. I am Sure there is other things that I Missed completly, GOOD
Luck!

Rocco

A Response that I received Late Last Year

I dont know why the
inventitemlocation table is not populated automatically; all I know is that I
had to populate the table in several of my implementations. I did get clever
and used a csv import into Axapta. This made the process much quicker. It is
easy to populate the spread sheet once you have all the items, the warehouses
and the locations.

Also once the inventitemlocation is set
up correctly, creating a stock counting journal is not a problem. If you create
the journal per warehouse then the system locks the items in each respective
warehouse (and location)

I hope this answers your questions.
Basically the inventitemlocation is very important for stock counting in
different warehouses.

Hi Harry

Is it Per Item and Per warehouse?

Do you have a way to Mass Populate the
inventitemlocation table with the Current on hand inventory of Axapta?

I would have thought this table would have
been updated when items go into the Warehouse

Thanking You

Rocco

Hi

This is a bug with standard axapta. The
flag is on table inventitemlocation. You will have to set this flag per item
once a counting journal is posted.
