RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] ISSue AX2009 witth Windows Server 2008 and SQL 2008?

2009-09-08 Thread Kevin Krieger
AX uses AD for authentication - while you have AX installed on your laptop,
your laptop is not the domain controller - hence not the authenticating
server. When you log into the domain, your laptop is authenticating to the
domain controller - AX senses the log in and you have access. When you
unplug - you have disconnected from the network AX loses its place.

The only way you can work on your laptop is to install Active Directory on
your local install of Win Server 2008 and put it on a totally new domain. Do
not install then try and connect to your normal domain as you will raise
more issues across the network. You may have to reinstall or repair your
AOS install after this.

Chances are the log file is what is consuming so much space - you will need
to back up the log file then invoke the shrink function - you may have to
repeat the process several times with a DB that size.

Try the "SHRINK" option from the Enterprise Manager toolbar. Just check, you
need to give the % i.e how much need to be free.

Dear all,

I have installed Axapta 2009 on a VPC for a testing purposes. The
installation is done successfully, but when I tried to start Axapta, it gave
me this msg: "Connection with Application Object Server could not be
established".

Then, I checked the AOS service and its status was "Starting" not "Started",
and for this status you can not play with the service in anyhow (i.e. stop,
pause & start)

Did any one face this problem before?

One info I had received from one ex-Navision guys was that the first name
the agency came up with was Xapta. There was no "A". When the name was seen
in a list of software list sorted alphabetically, it appeared at the end
because it started with "X", so they thought of adding "A" to it so that it
comes early in the list. That is how the name "Axapta" came in.

I don't know this firsthand. But I remember reading on technet (this is old

While it is probably a bit late now, thanks very much for the feedback.
I like the Damgaard brother one and will run with that until I hear
otherwise.
I've had a couple of years away from Axapta but am now back involved.
And I have to agree with the customers wanting to have understanding
of the name and a need to feel ownership with it - I have to say I
feel that way myself.

I took the test a month ago, was pretty straight forwrd, if you study
the available training material, it follows it exactly. Pay extra
attention to the set up and global configurations - your allowed 90
minutes to complete - I completed it in under 20, but second guessed at
some of my answers while reviewing and changed them, wound up those

If your having issues starting the AOS service, you might want to
check the Log On Account. If it does not have the required
permissions, the service start will fail. I usually set up a specific
account to use as the log on account. Just a suggestion - I do not
think it is a localization issue.

There is no credit card processing functionality in Axapta 3.0 as
standard.
If your installation has it, it was a mod.

I'm checking with the Implementer now, however I believe there is basic
functionality for Credit Cards built in. I have seen it in 2.5 as well.
Seems to be a XP / Firewall issue. Just would like any suggestions as to
where to look for a solution. I've scanned the registry and compared
machines... but haven't tripped across anything out of the ordinary.

Hi Kevin,

I'm pretty new to Axapta, but I don't believe there is any credit card
functionality built in. So you must be using third party software
(which is not part of Axapta).

I would explore a solution through the MFR of the third party
application.

I could be wrong of course. Without seeing your setup, it's hard to say
what's going on.

Best Regards,
Mike

We are using Axapta 3.0 SP3, and have had a issue come up with
  activating
Remote Desktop on the XP workstations. Before enabling the Remote
Desktop, we could access the "authorize prepaid credit card
cancellations" which would credit a customers credit card in near real
time. When we submitted the transaction would pop a window saying
  accepts with a process number.

After we enabled Remote Desktop, we get a "Declined" in a simple
window
  with
no codes. I have tried this one more than one machine, so I have
  narrowed to
  the installation of Remote Desktop.

Question is, is it a XP issue or an Axapta issue, and how can I fix
it!

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village][development-axapta] Crystal Reports and Axapta?

2005-08-26 Thread Kevin Krieger

We are on Axapta 2.5 and use Crystal for anything other
then the "Vanilla" reports contained in Axapta. I've recently updated to Crystal
XI which is server based and web accessible, so now my users can access any of
my reports from inside the enterprise or via the Internet. Report development,
if you know Crystal, is pretty straight forward, you really just need a
understanding of Axapta's table's and fields for content. The rest, at least in
Crystal Developer 11 is drag and drop. Let me know if you need more
info.
