Hi All,

Sound is like that you dont have rights to access the EP Site.
First, give the user an access rights from AX Client for this user (Emplyee or
whatever you want).

Best Regards,

detail what it is to check with the ports.

Thanks' a lot.

Hi,

It seems the Enterprise Portal setup has been crashed for the users who
are not able to see the tabs viz. HomeSales etc. Try running the EP set
up again and check the ports through which you are accessing the
sharepoint site. Also authentication should be the NT AUTHENTICATION for
log on.

Hi!

I have had similar problems - and reported these to Microsoft.
The conclusion I made for myself was that I you want 2 different AOS - or just
2 different company accounts - to work with Sharepoint - then you need 2
Sharepoints.

You can install multiple AOS´s and multiple applications on the same server -
but I gave up on trying to make 2 Enterprise Portals work on the same
Sharepoint (if data is not from the same AOS, same company accounts)

Now, if i want to create onther EP Site for the Second AOS Instance (dont

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Enterprise Portal on the Internet

2007-08-14 Thread Peter Sloth
Hi

Of course EP and the Web Application Framework is not as secure as what you
would get by having a similar app to run on the .Net platform with ASP.Net as
it has a lot of built-in security capabilities (for instance in the web server
controls themselves) and make use of the security stuff offered by the .Net
platform.
But having said that there are actually quite a few B2C sites out there which
are based on EP. And the Web Application Framework is pretty secure in my
opinion as it covers a lot of the attack surfaces known today, like input
validation (SQL-injection, buffer overflows and cross-site scripting) and
parameter (querystring) manipulation.
But if you decide to go for a VPN/SSL setup I will strongly recommend that you
use Axapta's support for SSL. Even though it's not the most advanced support it
does work and once you have implemented SSL in IIS (i.e. installed the
certificate and set up a secure site) it's very easy to make the framework use
it (by default SSL is only used by the menu item which is executed once you
click Ok in EP's logon webform.)

I am not sure which type of users you are targeting. Are the users defined in
EP (which means that they will have to logon to EP) or do you target anonymous
users? If you decide to go for the VPN solution and your users are defined in
EP you could try to enable single-sign-on in Axapta which means that EP will
automatically authenticate the user based on the credentials passed from the
web server.

Hi guys,

I'm using Ax 3.0. We are looking to provide an access to Axapta for
our client with the Enterprise Portal. That means exposing an IIS
box with Enterprise Portal.

Is the Enterprise Portal secure enough?
Would you dare to expose that to the net?
Anyone have idea to improve this setup?

Problem is my network admin is not too happy about going that way.
He wants to put an VPN-SSL box between the firewall and IIS. Setup
would look like this :

(Net)-->--[FireWall]-->--[VPN-SSL]-->--[IIS]

So client will have to authenticate on the VPN-SSL with a
user/password and i'll have to catch that username on the Enterprise
Portal to log them automatically so they don't have to login a second
time on IIS. That's where I'm a bit confused. I know I can
use "Request.ServerVariables["AUTH_USER"]" in ASP to get the userName
but How do I "force" login to Axapta with that userName?

Sorry for the big email but I wanted to put as much information as I
can.
If you have any experience with that, please feel free to comment on
that subject.

Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Enterprise Portal License Policy

2007-01-23 Thread ASHWANI JAIN
Hi Srirangabhat,

Under web-portal also, there are so many functionalities, which are available
and each is linked with its own configured license.
If the license has not been purchased, then Client will not be able to get all
the features.
List of Different license available for web-portal are as under:
Enterprise Portal Framework
Employee Role
Sales Representative Role
Consultant Role
Customer Role
Vendor Role
Human Resources for EPCRM for EPProduct Builder for EPQuestionnaire for
EPPerformance Management for EPEnterprise Portal UsersWeb MorphX Development
SuitAs per your information, your client is having license of 1, 2, 12.
Actually all these features are given to the MS Partners so that they can
explore / guide to there client based on working hands-on on the different
features.

Now it is up-to the client, which feature your client actually wants, and based
on that you can suggest your client to purchase that license.

Maybe the IIS is not configured correctly for ASP apps.
Try the following:

Do you get a "Hello World" in the browser or the 404 error?

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Enterprise Portal Licensing

2005-06-15 Thread Brandon George

I am currently in the middle of setting up EP, and have the
answers pretty much straight from one of the Danmark Developers that helped
create Axapta - who now works closely with MS.

From what I understand is:
    - Web Users are an Estimated about of User of
the Portal at any given time. Concurrently. (On at the same time) So they really
don't affect
anything from not working, they are a
Lic. deal only and just to keep you in complaince.
    - Real users - You should have one real user for
each web 'profile'
    - COM Users - One for each
'profile'

So let me explain this a little better. The real things you
need are real users and COM users. You need at least one called COM, that EP
uses. Then say you have Sales people, Customers, and Vendors that all need to
access EP, and all need different sets of security and what they see. Well then
you would need:
    Sales People -
    - COM Users: 1
    - Real Users:  1

    Customers -
    - COM Users: 1
    - Real Users:  1

    Vendors -
    - COM Users:  1
- Real
Users:   1

And this profile that I am talking about is related
to the Real user. You setup the real user Called WSales (something like that).
Then you setup the security on WSales for Sales Realted information on the EP.
Then you go and create Web users for your sales people, and for the User
associated with each Sales person Web User logon, you associate it with the
newly created WSales.

Doing this you will see that there will only need to be one
COM user per profile. So There could be 500 Web Users that are Sales, which will
all be associated to the WSales User, and when you goto check for Online Users
you will see only one instance of the WSales as connected through COM (Green
Diamond) yet there are 500 Web Users actually connected.

What you can do to check this is you can goto the Componet
Services Manager for the Box where EP is running, goto and COM+ / Navision / And
the Axapta2 COM object. There you can right click on the Parent folder / And
from the View -> Select Status. You will see your actual amount of users
here, but only see one Instance of that Name from within Axapta / Online
Users.

I hope through my ramblings you have gotten at least some
what of an answer.

-Brandon
