Hi Yolanda,

I have a lot of ancestors from Sao Jorge and came across this posting
and was curious about the Will Book and link that you sent to nancy
jean baptiste. What kind of information is listed? Would you be able
to send me the link as well to my email?

Thanks,

David

They don't have anything to do with me, I just wanted others on the Azores
list to know about them. You need to write to the person who is selling the
pics and ask those questions.

Hi, I found the photos on ebay. They are probably no relation of mine
though they look similar to some, haha. I have ancestors who also had
photographs taken at A M Estrella studio. Could you please give more
information such as where you found these and if there is anything
written on the backs. Also, please try to make copies or scans of them.
Old family photographs are so rare and once they are gone, they are gone
forever. I think you can have scans and copies made at places like CVS
if you don't own a scanner.

Interesting photos but I do not recognize any one.

I have a couple of photos done by A. M. Estrella also. I have wondered
what ever happened to all the old glass plate negatives. I would guess
they were washed for their silver content during the war.

A.M. Estrella was the photographer of the Portuguese immigrants in the
Fall River area circa 1900-1930. He had a studio on Bay Street and was
orininally from Vila Franca (I think). He took a wedding photo of my

For Topo i don't even know that they have any historical records in their
power. That is a good question!

Were they at any point City Hall? If yes then they shoul have municipal
records of payments, land owners, fines, jail records, etc etc.

Next time i go there i will ask around.

Since that the Portuguese law for official records was to send everything to
central power, that's way the records of baptism of Saint George were send
to Angra do Heroismo. The records of Pico send to Faial.

And even nowadys there is Tons of azores records that just seat in Torre do
Tombo and rot away..

I do believe tthat these records should retorne to Azores.

nowadays the aim is for the decentralization's, and believe that records
shoud stay with their institutes.

I have to say, that in my professional opinion as an archiviste, that this
web site and the records managmente is not the best. They sould have
invested in a profissional archiviste at full time. Just puting stuff on
line like they did With no research of the services.but it´s just

I have to say that i was amazed with the number of people that gave away
their children to the city hall powers, and they kept a tidy records of
