Hi Eric,

Thank you for that information.

I wonder if the supposedly un-related MOURA families in the Oakland
area connected up with each other.

As the farmland got paved over, many of the families moved south. I live in San
Martin and we still have a fair number of descendants down here in the Gilroy,

Oakland and the surrounding areas still have a large portuguese population.
The surrounding areas would include Hayward, Milpitas, and Alameda. Further
down, there are San Jose and Santa Clara. There are still some large portuguese
celebrations held in those areas. As for the Wine Country, that would be Napa
and Sonoma counties and would include towns such as Napa, Santa Rosa,
Sebastopol, Petaluma and Bodega Bay. Back in the day, there were a lot of
dairies in those area also and many portuguese were milkers on them. Good luck
with your search

Hi Steven,

A list of FHCs can be found on the FamilySearch Web site:
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp
Just fill in the blanks (you don't need the county).

The address for the North Dartmouth FHC is:
400 Cross Rd.
N. Dartmouth, MA

The hours vary (especially in the winter due to weather) and due to
volunteer power. Generally, they have hours on Mondays, Fridays, and
Saturdays. Since George Pacheco is one of the volunteers, I'd email him
directly to find what hours are scheduled for February: bretanha1954 at

Hi,  I have tried to research Enos in the Azores with no luck.  I was told that
Enos was not the correct spelling and that it could be spelled several
different ways - Inacio, Ignacio, Eanes, Eanas- I was given 8 or 9 variations
most of which I can't remember.  I had that information in my cmputer at one
time but lost it to a virus that hit my computer several years ago.  My Enos
was from Pico.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Ancestry.com iPhone App

2010-01-19 Thread Jesse Pacheco
Hi everyone. I don't know who else uses an iPhone but Ancestry just
launched their app. It's free and worth trying. The most interesting
feature is the ability to take and upload photos directly from the
app. There is no family tree view in this version though. If you have
an iPhone though, you might still prefer to view Ancestry from Safari.
The app is free though, so it's worth a try.
