[AZORES-Genealogy] Haplogroup g2a3a- how common is this?

2010-04-14 Thread Nicole Rodriques
I was just wondering about how common G2a3a is among the Portuguese?
There does not appear to be much information about this particular
haplogroup out there.

Thanks,
Nicole

Hi Nicole,

Katherine Borges is pretty good at finding scientific reports that would
answer your question. It may not break it down as far as you had yours done
(the studies may only break down to G1 or G2 or that kind of level).

The last time FTDNA ran their stats (2007) the G & G2 were 4.67% of the
entire FTDNA database. The G and G2s are about 7% of the Azores database.

You may also want to join the G Haplogroup project. Let me know if you need
the direction on how to do this. One of the admins is Bill. I'll look up
his email and send it to you.

the Salt Lake Plaza hotel deadline.

Early Bird deadline for the conference is $50 (mailed by April 22).
The Salt Lake Plaza has rooms for $82 a night single or double occupancy
(with tax, it's about $92.50). Must be booked by April 22nd to GUARANTEE
you a room. (800) 366-3684. State you are with the Azores Conference. You
might need to spell Azores to them.

Rooms booked between April 23 and June 23 will be given to you at the $82
rate, if rooms are still available. They release the rooms for the general
public 2 months before the event, hence the Apr. 22 deadline.

RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Need another set of eyes

2010-04-14 Thread nancy jean baptiste

Margaret,

Have you done a great deal of research on your Sao Jorge relatives? This is
such a treat to have the info Joao sent!

These ancestors that we connect on are behind my GGgrandmother, Agueda Maria da
Silveira, from Topo. Arline Silveira actually helped me with her line back to
Jean de Betencourt in the 1200's. This group has such a wealth of knowledge!

Regards,

Nancy

Hi Margaret,

Every time someone posts something like this I learn something new! It's nice
to now be able to differentiate between a "sailor" and a "fisherman".

These ancestors that Joao brought forth are my ancestors also back at the 11th
generation and down..I guess that makes us some kind of cousins since I see
lots of my ancestors in this chart.. I'll bet several others on the list
are connected as well!

I envy the native speakersI wish I had the "lingua"!

Best regards,
Nancy Jean

I'll send you my gedcom for Agueda back to the Bettencourts.you'll enjoy
