Does the book have very much on the Mission San Jose Festa from the
late 1800 to 1910 or so?

I bought my copy at the Dia do Portugal a few years ago. It's a great
resource as it's broken down by region, then city. It tell who formed the
societies, members through the years and has

many photos.

Shirley,

For the life of me I have been struggling to remember her name. She or I could
walk up to eachother and just start talking as if we'd just seen eachother. I
really liked her. But her name...

Arnie's wife I think was Patsy.

Do you need info on Manuel? His wife was Matilda. She died back in 1982/3.
They had one daughter, Paula.Paula married my Godparent's son, that is my
connection. Brings back lots of good memories on Jenson Road in Castro Valley.
Eric, if you'be been up Jenson Road lately I'm talking back in the day when
it was all farm houses and acres of open fields, not Mansion Hill like today.

Portuguese Heritage Publications of California printed 6200 of these books
and are now sold out. It is a beautiful book, with many pictures from the
various Holy Ghost Festas in California. It goes into the history of the
Festas up and down the state. I purchased this book even before I realized
that there were pictures of me and also of my goddaughter in it. Right
now, they are preparing a book on the Portuguese churches of California.
The date keeps getting pushed back, and it looks like it might be out toward
the later part of 2011.

I need someone to do a lookup for me at the County Recorder's Office in
Oakland, CA.

Here is what I have:

Vernon Anthony Amaral
son of (Luis Amaral X Helen Alice Martin)
Born: 10 May 1923, probably in Alvarado, Alameda, California.
Info from WW11 Army Enlistment Record:
enlisted: 12 Feb 1943, in San Francisco
He was still 19 years old, and MARRIED.
It doesn't list his spouse.

I am guessing that he was married between 1940 - 12 Feb 1943.

If someone could find the marriage info for me, I will be forever greatful.

Also, if there is a way to look up DIVORCES in California, please let me
know how.

AND, Vernon died 28 Feb 1996, in Livermore, Alameda, California.
If anyone has access to the OBITS for California, I sure would like to get
a copy. I
don't have any idea if Vernon was married when he died.

Vernon was probably married at least 6 times.

Vernon and my husband, Gary, are 1st cousins one time removed.

Thanks
Shirley
