Sam,

I use FTM and I can put both my bio and my adopted dads in. Once I put my
adopted dad in as my mom's husband, it let me go back and put in my
relationship to him. Options: Bio, Step, Adopted.

Actually, as far as I know as a user of FTM, it has a spot you can click to add
a 2nd, 3rd, or more spouses and you can add children to that couple but; it
does not have a place for a child to have multiple parents other than the note

I think probably all genealogy programs today can handle this.  I think it's
maybe that we just don't know because some of us haven't encountered multiple
parents in our trees.

You posted this almost seven years ago so I don't suppose you are around
much to answer.

My name is Carolyn Guido. I am the daughter of Manuel George Guido (b.
1/27/1924, d. 1/4/1992) and Barbara Olive Nickel. My grandfather was
Manuel Joseph Guido married to Wealthy Balcom Guido in 1921. My father
grew up in what is now not so good of a neighborhood in Oakland California
down near 4th Street. Dad has been gone for over 20 years now. Growing
up he didn't speak about his family much. My mother's side of the family
tree is well documented. I am trying to find out more about Dad's side.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Ancestry - FREE ACCESS to select records - July 3-8, 2012

2012-07-04 Thread Michelle
Cheri,

Thank you for adding that. I assumed if they offered free access that they
would offer it to all. My bad!

I checked several sites that are talking about it (including their Facebook
page) but couldn't find anything stating it was limited to US. Worth a try... I
posted the question on their Facebook page. Hopefully, I'll get an answer
before the offer ends.

In addition..."In commemoration of Independence Day, Fold3 is providing FREE
access to their entire Revolutionary War Collection including pension files,
service records, war rolls, and more. Click here to access the collection now
through July 15th:" http://ancstry.me/N48OuO Sorry, I don't know if this is
limited to US...it doesn't say.

Just an FYI for those that didn't know and are interested.

My name is Deb. I am new to the group. I have been reading posts for a while,
but have been reluctant to ask any questions or make comments until I
understood more about how to approach genealogy for my Azorean ancestors. Well
. . . two days ago, I was following Cheri's advice and re-read the link about
how to conduct research. I ran across Kathy Cardoza's offer to look for
relatives who might have enrolled in a fraternal organization.

This is where the big THANK YOU comes in. I contacted Kathy. In no time at
all, she wrote to say she had not found my relative, but to let her know if I
had any other questions. Well, I wrote and said, "Should I start with my U.S.
relatives if I have a possible fregusia from a Portuguese passport?" Kathy
made excellent suggestions and provided a link for Feteira and within minutes I
was introduced to an ENTIRE FAMILY just waiting for me to discover them. I
wrote to Kathy to tell her the good news, which led to my ordering microfilm
and learning how to research another branch from Sao Mateus, Pico. Kathy was
so generous with her time and expertise. How lucky I was to receive her help.

So, a HUGE THANK YOU to KATHY CARDOZA and an additional thank you to all of the
list members who have been helpful,to others and to people like me who are
vicariously learning from your advice.

Happy 4th of July to you all.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] What a great group!

2012-07-04 Thread Kathy Cardoza
Hi Deb

Thank YOU for all your kind words! It was my pleasure to be any part of your
successful hunt for ancestors. :)

Like Gayle Machado, I have a lot of ancestors from Sao Mateus, Pico. You might
want to take a look at my family tree to see if we share any ancestors. Once
you get there, you can search the Places and drill all the way down to Sao
Mateus from Portugal to Azores to Pico, to Sao Mateus. Then click on it and
you'll get a list of my people from there. I have the same names as you do for
Sao Mateus, so you never know, we might be related!

[AZORES-Genealogy] Nossa Senhora dos Anjos,Faja de Baixo, Ponta Delgado, Sao Miguel, Azores

2012-07-04 Thread Pam Santos
Is anyone researching in this town? I just received the films, marriages
before 1860 and baptisms. Unfortunately I need to order later years for
marriages and figured I would ask if anyone needs anything looked up. I
will be going back on Thursday and Saturday so will need to know before
then. Because school starts back up on Monday, and I won't have time until
end of August.
