[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Mello, Texeira, Ventura, early 1900s

2014-11-04 Thread Lee
Bill,

Have you found marriage cords of either Jeronimo Pachecho de Mello or that
of his father Ingnacio Pacheco de Mello yet? I found either yet (I did
find the one for Ignacio's 2nd marriage in 1805).

No Lee, since I decided to work on a master's degree I don't have time to
tie my shoes. For the last year and a half everything I have is from
lurking in this group and picking off what you find.

I am fortunate to have someone so tenacious working on the same family as
me...thank you very much!

My name is Lisa, my maiden name is De Mello. I'm trying to do some
research on my paternal grandfather's side. His name was Joseph De Mello
 he
was born January 17, 1918. His father was Ventura De Mello and Felicdae
Teixeria. I have some questions as to where he went from Pacheco to De
Mello? Also do you still have the scan of Ventura's passport? I also
 found
a lady that was born in 1893 named Isabella De Mello. Which was
conincidental because that is my daughter's name. She was born in
 Honolulu.
I'm trying to draw a possible family connection to her? Out of curiosity,
how are you related to Ventura?

After reading what Hermano wrote, my second reading on the record also
points to Barbara *de Oliveira* for the bride's mother!

[AZORES-Genealogy] Translation help with baitismal - Matriz da Estrela, Ribeira Grande

2014-11-04 Thread Lee
I need some help with the baptism of Anna?, left page, bottom record:

The name is/looks like Anna (the first letter is "blotchy" and I can see
the nna).

She was the daughter of Manoel Jose Cabral and Jacinta Roza; born ,
??, 1790. I cannot make out the day/month at all.

The other questions I have are on the paternal grandmother - Ursula? da
Sylva (married to Nicolao Cabral) and the maternal grandfather, Manoel
Rebello Aranha (Spider? - had to look that one). I'm not sure if this a
nickname/alcunha or actually part of his name since the comma is after the
word Aranha. Am I reading this correctly?

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1785-1790/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1785-1790_item1/P179.html

Any help with the above would be greatly appreciated (and thank you, in
advance!)
