Does anyone recognize this old email address?  I am trying to track down
"Connie" who sent the message below OR anyone who is connected to this family.
We are related.  Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

Hi Listers:

I am posting in case these names ring a bell with anyone. I have obtained
the baptismal certificate on my grandfather, John Martins. I asked the
church to search their records for a marriage of Joao Martins and Maria
Chaves, but no luck. Heres hoping.

John Martins born 11 December 1892 in New Bedford, MA
Christened at Saint John the Baptist, New Bedford, MA

father: Joao Francisco Martins
mother: Maria Eugenia Chaves
sponsor: Manuel V. Rodrigues

When I searched for ancestors, I found friends!

[AZORES-Genealogy] Sao Mateus of Ponta Delgada?

2015-05-08 Thread 'John C' via Azores Genealogy
Hi Everyone,

While doing research of the Ponta Delgada records, I have found references
to people being born in Sao Mateus in the city of Ponta Delgada. I was
wondering if anyone knew what this referred to? The records are from late
1600's to early 1700's. Was there another parish in Ponta Delgada at the
time or was this part of Sao Sebastiao, Sao Pedro or Sao Jose? I am hoping
that they are not missing records and I can't seem to locate any
information about this. Thanks

Yep. I can say over and over again that the posts that get the most have
names, dates (or date ranges) and places. Posts that say "Help me" or
"Translate" don't get as many views as ones that say "Translate Topo, Sao
Jorge, Machado family," or "Silva from Luz Graciosa 1850s" etc. I make
suggestions every once in a while, but not everyone reads them :(
