Thank you, George, for sharing this very useful information (I have Medeiros in my line). Would you share the source of this information - is it all from Guill or multiple sources. The reason I ask is that I work at NYU and the library has a decent number of books on Portugal that I can access. I currently have all 4 volumes of Saudade da Terra. The lovely thing about it is I can renew the books 4 or 5 times over for 3 months each time. I have the index here at home and the rest of the volumes in my office at school. I looked up Medeiros and found multiple references to Rui Vaz and some of the other names you list including Jordão, João, Rafael, etc. I will look them up when I return to work tomorrow. I also have a book called Capitães dos Donatários 1439-1766. Here is an except (roughly translated followed by the original) from chapter 2, oage 25. ...drawn to S. It says Cedros on Faial. If you think that's her, go to the Cedros baptisms and look for an Anna born to those parents. Your message didn't say what led you to believe she was from Faial. I did note that about the Veronica, I saw an arrival July 1884 and I did see one for July possibly 1885 although there was some question about that date. I'm interested in the positive search you had on Ancestry. I've been a member there for some time and never had a hit on the passengers lists for her. Could you link the record you found? Certainly, that too is a possibility if the dates are right. I know absolutely that she was in San Francisco and married by 1887 when her first child is born. Of course the fact that many records burned in the 1906 earthquake does not make things any easier.
