[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Help with translation please.

2015-09-18 Thread bsei2816
She was 59 years old (more or less) and mossa (or mosza) donzella (moderns
spelling I believe is "moça donzela" meaning a pure, unmarried woman).

She is daughter of Manuel Pereira P???, already deceased. The second
surname seems to start with same letter as what I believe is Pereira and as
Paroquial on a later line. I does not resemble the "S" in Silva on a later
line or in Supra on the last line so "Seixas" doesn't seem to work.

I cannot make out how Antonio da Silva fits into this picture but his name
is given in the sentence concerning the burial. Perhaps he provided the
grave?

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Revoredo

2015-09-18 Thread mances
I have in my tree:

1. Catarina de Revoredo m. to Dionísio Fragoso in Santa Cruz, Lagoa, on 20
sep 1593.

2. Domingos de Revoredo m. to Luzia Mendes; they are the parents of
Francisco Mendes [de Revoredo] who married Maria Fernandes in Santa Cruz,
Lagoa, on 9 nov 1624.

3. Manuel Pires de Revoredo m. to Maria Garcia; they are the parents of
Francisco Pires de Revoredo who married Maria Tavares França in Rabo de
Peixe, on 23 oct 1623.

The oldest Revoredo I have seen on the records is Ana de Revoredo who
married Domingos Pires in Santa Cruz, Lagoa, on 22 apr 1557.

of Antonio Martins and Joanna dos Reis.

I read the date as September 10, 1769.

Antonio Martins filho of Manoel de Sousa? Martins and Maria Paucoa?
Pascoal?, defuntos
Joanna dos dos Reis filha of Joseph Fernandes and Anna dos Reis?

I'm curious about the names that are listed immediately after the names of
Antonio's parents (Manoel Andrade, Jose de Mederios? da Camera and Jose
Martins, Martinho Rapozo and Joseph Rapozo) are these relatives if
Antonio's or they the padrinhos?

All help, etc. appreciated!

2015-09-18 Thread "E" Sharp
Marilyn, thank you. As long as I have the time, I don't mind. I can tell
you that the Social Security records that we used to have to write and pay
for and are now on Ancestry are a real gem. They give you the names, birth
date, death date, AND, the women's married names and this when you ask by
the women's maiden name.

I did find the US Manifest and with that Liz found them on Passportes and
now she can look for their Azores baptism records, and so it goes.

I'd like to make the bride's dad a Silveira, but the abbreviation just
doesn't look right. As for the bride's mom, I lean towards Maria Goncalves
(Gl...), but the hook from the line below is reaching up and I can't be certain
if it belongs to the name or the line below. Looks like a raised .te on the
bride's mom's surname though. Doesn't make sense for Goncalves.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: maria vitorina da conceicao in sao jorge

2015-09-18 Thread Marie
The record is found in the Santo Antao baptisms:

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SJR-CH-SANTOANTAO-B-1890-1899/SJR-CH-SANTOANTAO-B-1890-1899_item1/P67.html

My ancestors also came from Topo and I was hoping we may have had a
connection; doesn't appear so
