[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: People with Faial ancestry

2016-01-04 Thread Mike
Hi Bella,
if you're related to Patricia then there's a chance that you're related to
me as well as my Ggrandfather was from Cedros, Faial and another line with
my GGgrandpa is also from Faial. The surnames are Pinheiro and Pereira
respectively. I am part of the Azores DNA project.

Conseipsam is what I see also. As Kawika332 stated the modern spelling is
concepção. My dictionary has Concepção and Conceição and translates both
to conception. It is my understanding that in modern usage, Conceição is
mostly used as a name while Concepção is mostly used as the word for
conception.

2016-01-04 Thread bsei2816
He died at 62 years old (line 9: de idade de seissenta e dois annos)
He was single (margin says "solteiro")
He left no children (end of line 13 to line 14 "nao deixou filhos")
He died at his mother's house in place in Cedros called Cascalho (starting
midway on line 3: "em casa da sua mae no lugar do Cascalho deste freguesia
dos Cedros, concelho da Horta, Diocese Angrense")
It says he died having received all the sacraments of "Santa Madre Igreja"
(Holy Mother Church) which I believe is the phrase you are referring to.

Hope this helps.

"age" is still "idade." Look on line 7
...de idade de sessenta e dois an-
nos
of the age of 70 and 2 years(hyphenated).

Double Ss look like sf.
Portuguese Word List here: https://goo.gl/rNYqjN

He died in that freguesia. If he died somewhere else, you wouldn't have
found him there :)

Now that you have the word list, you can see Santa Madre Igregia (old
spelling starts with an E) is the Holy Mother Church.
