Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: 1674 Rodrigues Obito - Flamengos. Faial

I read through quite a few of the entries and widow just makes sense, as when
they are married, he says so, and there was one that he stated not
marriedso the word fits into that formula even tho I agree that it does
not look like viuva. Too bad he didn't say who they were the widows "of"as
some do!

it's subtle, but if one looks at the word in the context of the whole entry, it
it appears to me that it is almost surely viuva, spelled "veuva". The priest
makes his "n" compressed and with with a little serif. His "u" and his "v" are
expanded and look essentially the same.

I can see that same word included in the fourth person down on the left
page as well as at least one on the previous pages.

I do not know what it means. Maybe look at some of the other records and
see if they might help you figure out what that word means. Just a thought.

It sure is not viúva - the word nenna seems like a spanish word nena for
querida but maybe it was a nickname for Maria although it`s not starting
with a capital N.
The curious thing is that all those registers say where each body is
burried in the cemetery: Near the south entrance, next to the main entrace,
etc
