[AZORES-Genealogy] Death Record

2017-05-18 Thread Sean Andrade
Hi,

Here is a death record for Francisco Dutra Andrade starting on the middle
right:
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/FAL-HT-CAPELO-O-1818-1833/FAL-HT-CAPELO-O-1818-1833_item1/P14.html

I do not see his wife's name but I think his son's name is towards the
bottom of the record. I'm just not sure what it says after Francisco Dutra
Mancebo. I also see the name Rosa Maria but can't tell if it states that
Rosa is the son's wife.

Any help with this record is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Same Birth Records Candelaria

2017-05-18 Thread Cheri Mello
Maternal grandmother: Rosa Luciana

The line in the binding you're not going to get.

...Norte, council of Horta, island of Faial, on the 12 Dec 1951.Register
number 226, page (?) 114 of the book of the register of deaths of the
Conservatory of the Civil Registry of Horta, something of the current 1951.

So if you go to the map of Faial on the Azores GenWeb, you can figure out
the freguesia where he died: https://goo.gl/QQiOAc

The last 3 or 4 lines of each baptism are the same. It says that the record
was drawn up in duplicate. One book was to remain at the church and the
other was to go to the Diocese. I believe the Diocese was to send them on
to the Vatican. I do not know that for certain. So yes, you are seeing a
duplicate book.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Same Birth Records Candelaria

2017-05-18 Thread Sean Andrade
Hi,

I am searching through Candelaria on Pico and notices that for the years
1876-1888 they had two different records. Does anyone know why this was
done?

Here are the birth records for Antonio:

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/PIC-MD-CANDELARIA-B-1876-1899/PIC-MD-CANDELARIA-B-1876-1899_item1/P30.html

In that record he is the very bottom right, number 22.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/PIC-MD-CANDELARIA-B-1876-1888/PIC-MD-CANDELARIA-B-1876-1888_item1/P39.html

In that record he is also bottom right, number 22.

It looks like someone rewrote the records perhaps?

On the second page can anyone make out what it says in the margin?

Can anyone also make out his maternal grandmothers name?

Thanks!
Sean

Hi Rosemarie,
Thanks for your response. I have used Joao Ventura recently. He was able to

the information I had given him was perhaps not 100% accurate. But I think I

THANK YOU ERICA You have helped knock down the brick wall that has been
holding me up on researching my paternal grandfather's family. I've "literally"
been pounding my head against this wall for 5 years now trying to find the
baptism records for my great grandfather and his siblings. I almost cried when
I viewed them.

Familysearch.com has just digitized almost all of their Madeira records. You
can access them through searching their "catalog". Type in the place "Madeira,
Portugal" and "search". Then choose the option of "church records - 50 items".
This will bring you to a list of all of the freguesias of Madeira. Pick your
freguesia and click on it. That will bring up a list of all the records they
have. If the icon to the right is a camera, then you can click on that link
and look through them. If the icon is a film reel, then those records are not
uploaded to the internet yet and only available through ordering them directly.

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Question on Madeira research

A friend asked me for help on his wife's Madeira ancestry. I'd like to help
with reading the records for them but I'm not sure the records are online like
the Azores. I'm not even sure yet if there's more than one island - sorry to
admit in public - I'm just starting to explore how I can help them.

Is there an equivalent list for Madeira like this one?

Thanks,

Maria Elena
