[AZORES-Genealogy] Something added to a marriage record- what does it say

2017-06-20 Thread doreencaetano
There is something added to the bottom of the marriage record on the very
bottom of right side
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763_item1/P83.html.
Can someone tell me what it says?

Ok it appears to me that Antonio Coelho Lourenco was married 3 times but I want
to make sure. They refer to him as Antonio Coelho and Antonio Coelho Lourenco
and Antonio Marques

1st wife Isabel da Conceicao in 1724 (2 35v according to marriage index) and he
is referred to as Antonio Marques right side of the page:
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763_item1/P38.html
Does this list his parents or her's. Are they from Altares? I think it is
indicating that Isabel and Antonio are related too?
Yes, they are are related with a 3 "grao de consanguinisade". Their parents are
not indicated.

2nd wife Teresa de Jesus in 1727 (2 39 according to marriage index) and he is
referred to as Antonio Marques on the right  side of the page:
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763_item1/P42.html
Refers to other marriage and give her parents as Manuel Godinho and Joanna?
Her parents are Manoel Godinho da Costa and Joana Lucas

3rd wife Anna da Rosa, widow of Andre Coelho, in 1742 (2 94v) on the right side
of the page and he is referred to as Antonio Coelho Lourenco
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763_item1/P25.html
It indicates her parents as Matheus Luis and Josefa Rosa but usually records do
not list the parents names if they have been married before...?
Your link is not valid. But, I think you do a mistake. The mariage of Antonio
Marques widow of Teresa de Jesus, with Ana Maria widow of André Coelho is on
the img 97, bottom. The next mariage is Antonio Coelho Lourenço and Ana de
Santa Rosa, on the top of the img 98. They are differents.

Also they have a child who marries in 1769. His name is Francisco Goncalves
Coelho, husband or Maria St. Josepha and their marriage record is on the right
side:
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1763-1787/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1763-1787_item1/P25.html
This refers to Antonio as Antonio Coelho Lourenco.

Despite the name changes I'm sure that I have followed the records correctly
because they refer to each other. Unless he married in another village but I do
not see that in the records. But once again my ability to read this records is
very limited. Often I wonder what I'm missing if I could only read the whole
record. Does any of these refer to his parents? Was he born in Altares?
I'm hoping someone in the group is related to him and has already figured this
out. This branch of the tree stops with him unless I can get additional
information from these records.
I would appreciate any help I can get. Have a great day. Doreen

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Portuguese Citizenship

2017-06-20 Thread Neil Teixeira
Hello Dominick. Neil Teixeira here from the San Francisco Bay Area. Your
living Father has the right to obtain his Portuguese Dual Citizenship (PC)
from either one of his Portuguese born parents. Its called the "Attribution"
process. There is no language test in this process. The Portuguese born
parent(s) do not need to be alive. But your Father does. If your Father
passes away prior to obtaining his PC from his parent(s).then the chain
link is forever broken. And you and your children will not be able to
obtain your PC thru the attribution process. The biggest and hardest hurdle
is getting all the correct (Officially Stamped) government/Church
documents. They DO NOT accept copies. You will apply at the Portuguese
Consulate that serves your State. To begin the process, you need the
following "stamped" documents: Grandfathers or Grandmothers Portuguese
birth record, Grandparents marriage record, your USA birth certificate,
your marriage record, etcAs far as the name change. If they did it thru
a local County court, then its easy to get a copy of that legal document.
If not? Get a official copy of their passport/ship log when they exit the
Azores, which will show their original name. Then your going to have to
prove that they changed it here in the USA thru a Entry Port ship document,
Citizenship application or marriage document...or something..to
confirm they are one and the same person(s).
You do all this. Fill out the PC application at or thru the mail at your
Portuguese Consulate, pay the fees, submit all the documents. Wait for 8
weeks to get word from Lisbon, to see if they have approved your packet of
documents. Once your Father is granted his PC. Its real easy/much smoother
for you and your children to get it. Its a wonderful journey. Neil
Teixeira

Rosemarie,

Could this be them? If not you might want to check the Avilla's at St.
John's Cemetery in New Bedford on FindAGrave.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Maria Vieira da Silva & Joao Machado Avila

2017-06-20 Thread Rosemarie Capodicci
Hi All,
I'm trying to trace descendants of the above couple. Maria immigrated in
1912 to California, Joao/John about 1910 to California. They married in
Alameda County California on 16 Aug 1914. Maria's parents: Francisco Vieira
da Silva and Maria de Azevedo of Ribeira da Areia, Sao Jorge, Azores;
Joao's parents Joao Machado Avila & Maria Magdalena de Azevedo from Norte
Grande, Sao Jorge.
After the couple married, they went 'back East' no one in the family
remembers where! Maria supposedly had 3 children and then died young of a
brain tumor.
I've found a John & Mary Avilla in the 1930 Census, the right ages and also
immigration years in Dartmouth, Bristol, Mass. They have Antone Avilla 14,
Mary 8 and Alfred 5. I can not find these children or dad in 1940. Does
anyone recognize this family?? This could be my Maria & Joao/John, the ages
are right, 3 children, immigration years correct.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Portuguese Citizenship

2017-06-20 Thread MaryAnn Santos
I was told if one's application for Portuguese citizenship is approved then
citizenship will extend to one's children. So yes, if your father becomes a
Portuguese citizen you will be able to apply as well. I'm just beginning
this process so you might want to get information from this link...

Check the forum/web board. The information is there, including who needs to
pass a language test. Representing the name change in a citizenship
application is beyond the scope of this list. We mainly deal with our
ancestry and the deceased! LOL

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Portuguese Citizenship

2017-06-20 Thread Dominick Lemas
I am curious if my father is successful in gaining citizenship via descent,
would I then be eligible to apply at a later point in time? Additionally,
my family name changed from DeLima to Lemas when they came to the US. How
do I represent this in my father's application?

[AZORES-Genealogy] Questions on the 3 marriages for Antonio Coelho Lourenco from Altares

2017-06-20 Thread doreencaetano
Ok it appears to me that Antonio Coelho Lourenco was married 3 times but I
want to make sure. They refer to him as Antonio Coelho and Antonio Coelho
Lourenco and Antonio Marques

1st wife Isabel da Conceicao in 1724 (2 35v according to marriage index)
and he is referred to as Antonio Marques right side of the page:
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763_item1/P38.html
Does this list his parents or her's. Are they from Altares? I think it is
indicating that Isabel and Antonio are related too?

2nd wife Teresa de Jesus in 1727 (2 39 according to marriage index) and he
is referred to as Antonio Marques on the right side of the page:
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763_item1/P42.html
Refers to other marriage and give her parents as Manuel Godinho and Joanna?

3rd wife Anna da Rosa, widow of Andre Coelho, in 1742 (2 94v) on the right
side of the page and he is referred to as Antonio Coelho Lourenco
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1713-1763_item1/P25.html
It indicates her parents as Matheus Luis and Josefa Rosa but usually
records do not list the parents names if they have been married before...?

Also they have a child who marries in 1769. His name is Francisco Goncalves
Coelho, husband or Maria St. Josepha and their marriage record is on the
right side:
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1763-1787/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1763-1787_item1/P25.html
This refers to Antonio as Antonio Coelho Lourenco.

Despite the name changes I'm sure that I have followed the records
correctly because they refer to each other. Unless he married in another
village but I do not see that in the records. But once again my ability to
read this records is very limited. Often I wonder what I'm missing if I
could only read the whole record. Does any of these refer to his parents?
Was he born in Altares?
I'm hoping someone in the group is related to him and has already figured
this out. This branch of the tree stops with him unless I can get
additional information from these records.
I would appreciate any help I can get. Have a great day. Doreen

[AZORES-Genealogy] Hepl reading Altares Marriage record of Antao Martins Coelho and Joanna Nunes

2017-06-20 Thread doreencaetano
Thanks again for all the previous help. Need help reading the marriage
record of Antao Martins Coelho and Joanna Nunes from Altares.
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1648-1712/TER-AH-ALTARES-C-1648-1712_item1/P18.html
Here's is what I can get from the record married 2/2/1665 groom's parents
are Diogo Friz and Catharina Coelha and bride's parents are Francisco Dias
Coelho and Maria? Is this correct? Are the parents from Altares. Is there
any other information that might help me with my research?
