To be crystal clear, it's for the church call Sao Pedro, in Vila Franca do
Campo, on the island of Sao Miguel. So many churches are named Sao Pedro.

[AZORES-Genealogy] New Sao Miguel Marriage Indexes

My pleasure. I hope it helps make some of the research easier for someone as I 
have been helped so many times by others here on this site as well. I suggest 
anyone using my index to look at the actual records on the CCA site still as 
well as I am human... and hopefully havent made a mistake with the names. ( i 
double and triple checked.. but you never know😉)

[AZORES-Genealogy] New Sao Miguel Marriage Indexes

Thanks to our member, Terri Santos, we now have some new marriage indexes for 
Sao Pedro Church of Sao Miguel. They are here, on the Azores GenWeb:

I have been going over some documents and am at the death documents, thus the 
request for the Ao Pe’ da Ladeira, etc. This review has peaked my interest into 
the whole death,funeral and will practices in the Portuguese culture around the 
1700’s, and/or earlier/later. I am curious about the burial in the habit of St. 
Francis (anyone have a picture?), the walking to the grave with the friars of 
St. Francis and the priests (the significance of St. Francis?) and the 
statement in some wills of wanting masses said for the person’s “Intentions” 
And asking for 1/2 ceremony. What does this mean? Finally The payment for the 
grave was usually said to be paid (if they weren’t poor) by a relative and 
usually in the amount of 8 vintens or Reis (both old currency). Does anyone 
know what is meant by “old currency” and is it too hard to figure out what that 
would be in dollars?
Maybe this is asking for way to much info but I have tried to get some of this 
through google, etc and it never seems to be very satisfying as a report from 
someone Portuguese would be.. So if anyone is inclined you can Email me 
privately (gws...@gmail.com ) or if you think it is of 
interest to others to this azores group page. Thanks for any help.

UPDATE

Perhaps the marriage for* António de Medeiros Moura and Joanna Maria* 
(Estimated before sometime 1789, so 1170-1789 ?) could be in *Agua de Pau*, 
since in the Obituary of their son Francisco it says that his mother is a 
natural of Agua de Pau (instead of Nossa Senhora do Rosario, Lagoa).
Another possibility is *Relva*, since their son *Francisco de Medeiros 
Moura* (sometimes documented as de Medeiros Pimentel) married *Vitoria de 
Jesus in Relva after 1818*.  This is another record I am looking for.

I feel like I have been back and forth in the Santo António church book 
looking for this, and I also checked Nossa Senhora do Rosario with no 
luck.  I could have missed it though.  Does anyone have a searchable index 
for these freguesias please?
