Although Madeira is not part of the Azores I can help you with the 
translation:
Madeira was and still is also part of Portugal. Canarias was and still is 
part of Spain.
Marital Status. The petitioner arrived in Madeira on Feb, 20th, 1881, He 
landed/disembarked sick and was treated at this city`s hospital as a 
destitute, living as such because he had no means of subsistence.

It sure is not viúva - the word nenna seems like a spanish word nena for 
querida but maybe it was a nickname for Maria  although it`s not starting 
with a capital N.
The curious thing is that all those registers say where each body is 
burried in the cemetery: Near the south entrance, next to the main entrace, 
etc

Maybe the d`Angelina (de or da+ Angelina), although not common could be 
used as a differential as there could be more than one Antonio Furtado so 
this one was Angelina`s son and known as such. I`ve seen many surnames in 
 Azores and other Portuguese genealogy records that must come from places 
or milestones as Manuel da Ponte and others.

In fact the name must have been Ascenção both with the "~" (til) and the 
"ç"(cedilha) and with the sc . This name is relate to Our Lady`s 
Assumption. In Portuguese it is either Ascenção or Assunção .

Hi Jennifer,
You might try looking for Correia as a surname . Your surname seems to come 
from an error in spelling when your family arrived in the US or maybe 
before, leaving Azores. I`ve never heard of Corriea in Portuguese but we 
have lots of Correia (with the i ) and Corrêa (without it).

thank you so much for your help. Unfortunately I`m almost sure my 
ggrandfather came to Brazil before that because I have seen some entries 
with his name on a kind of Who is Who catalog here in 1876. I find it hard 
to believe that he would have reached that position within only one year 
since his arrival. I`ll try anyway.

Joaquina. In convents there are Irmãs and Madres - as in Soeurs and Mères.

Thank you so much for helping. 
So the Baptism entry from 1956 was the first one, even though  he was 
Baptized only a month after he was born... weird...
Anyway, do you think there were no passports issuing  in Ponta Delgada 
before 1875 or they only not avaiable for research?

The problem in finding my great grandfather by the port of entry is that I 
have no idea when or where to he came/went. I know he married my 
ggrandmother in 1877 so it has to be before that. 
I`m used to researching in familysearch. com - I even volunteer for 
digitalizing their records - but I`ve never looked on ancestry.com. Do they 
carry ship manifest records there? 
So far the only ones I have found are for ships going to the US,
