Miguel , but the birth date does not match the one you have.

This Manuel Carreiro i have has been traced from Sao Miguel to Australia
aboard the ship called the 'Water Lily' . This ship left the Azores and
went straight to Australia .
Manuel Carreiro that i have travelled on that ship under that name. In
Australia he used The surname Muniz and Carreiro , on his marriage
certificate his name is written Muniz then crossed out and written as
Carreiro. He died in Creswick Victoria and is buried there , D 1882 aged
55yrs.

The birth date that you have is different to this Manuel Carreiro but i
thought i should give you this information just incase it might be
connected to the family member you are looking for.
Good Luck in youre search

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Emigration from Azores to Australia

2014-10-26 Thread 'cmurray56' via Azores Genealogy
Hi JR .
There was a ship called 'The Water Lily" that departed the Azores for
Victoria Australia in the 1800's.
Many of the people from the Azores went hunting for gold in the gold rush
in Victoria Australia. I am a decendant of one.
My GGG Grandfather came from the Azores to Australia and lived in the
Ballarat region of Victoria. He did not come on the Water Lily and im
still searching for details of his arrival. I have his Australia marriage
cert but no entry details.
Maria Lima who is a member of this group , did have relations on the Water
Lily and she kindly gave me a copy of the ships list. I will post it as
soon as I can find it, with the hope that you may find a name on it of
your ancestor. Mariam Lima's ancestors lived in the region of Creswick
and where miners, they have their graves there and are registered. If you
can give me details of youre ancestor , I will go to the library and check
the records to see if there are any for him.
Best Wishes
Chris

Could some one please advise me if the following two names can be
taken as the same meaning, or are they totally different names. I have
two marriage certificates one of each belonging to two brothers. Muniz
brothers from San Roque, on their marriage certificates their fathers
first name is different, the mothers names are the same. Their
fathers names are ' Jose' and the other is 'Francisco'. do these
names have the same meaning? Or would they be two different people?

2011-03-29 Thread cmurray56
Hi Maria, most people that disembarked in Geelong as did our
families, walked to the Goldfields it was a walk of a couple of
hundred miles. My other ancestors that arrived in Geelong in 1854
walked to Smythesdale and had no family there to meet them. It seems
to me that it depended on what year the ships arrived to what new
found gold field our ancestors walked to. There is a website that has
every single published newspaper in Australia, from every state and
territory, the way to get to it is just google "Trove" . another
site is "Picture Australia" it has the earliest photo's of Australia.
Many gold mines, workers huts, shops, streets etc. For Cemetery look
up , eg; photo's , headstones etc. the web site is 'Australian
Cemetery's' . There is also a group called 'RAOK' Random Acts Of
Kindness, it is a group of people that will go to cemetery's that
are in their area and will take a photo of a grave and send it to you
via email it is a free service. So we will have to keep checking the
Australia cemetery's site to see if we can find our people. There
should be people in the Creswick, Clunes, Bendigo areas that will do,
RAOK

Hi Maria, I have got some official govenrment details about your
family that lived in Victoria,Australia. They come off the "Digger
Disc's" , you know of the pioneer set of disc's as some kind Aussie
has sent you details. Im still learning how to go about finding my
family and more often i have alot of help from kind people, then again
people that have mastered the genealogy search can be a bit short
tempered with beginners like me. I have been doing this for only two
years..

DELIMA ANTONIO b 1883 father Antonio DELIMA mother Mary OSHANASSY
registration number 3213
DELIMA PETER MIRIAM b 1885 father Antonio DELIMA mother Mary OSHANASSY
registration number 14015
DELIMA MARY ANNE b 1887 father Antonio DELIMA mother Mary OSHANASSY.
DELIMA ANTONIO b 1882 father Antonio DELIMA mother Mary OSHANASSY
registration number 515.
That is the list from the PIONEER INDEX, VICTORIA 1836-1888
I will send you the other index's soon
Best Wishes
Chris
PS just got some information sent to me today that links our family to
the ANESELMO family from the island of 'Sao Miguel Emerald Island of

2011-03-23 Thread cmurray56
Hi Maria, I cant thankyou enough for your reply. Its so great to
finaly find some details of the arrival of Portuguse people to
Australia. Francisco J Muniz was a store keeper and miner at
Smythesdale and i do know of members of the Muniz family buried at
Creswick. I do know that Francisco had shares in a gold mine. I do
know that Manuel Carreiro Muniz died in Creswick in 1882, his wife was
Louisa Sims. In April there is a gathering of Pioneer family
desendants at Smythesdale Botanical Gardens, it is to celebrate 150
years since families arrived and settled into the area. I hope to meet
up with people that may be related. I do know that there is a living
Muiz in the area who is a member of the historical society that will
be there on the day. I would like to contact you by email to compare
notes. Thankyou so much, Best Wishes
Chris
