2012-07-18 Thread Deb McCabe
Hi Diane,

I would love to chat more as my Azevedo and Martin relatives  lived in Oakland
and San Leandro.  I have some old photos of them at my Godparents' house in San
Leandro that I can't identify.  Wouldn't it be great if you could?

My e-mail is looking4root...@yahoo.com.   Looking forward to hearing from you.

Deb

[AZORES-Genealogy] Maria Felicia do Coracao de Jesus

2012-07-18 Thread Diane George
Hi, Deb,

I saw your post to the Google group about Maria Felicia do Coracao de
Jesus. I thought I recognized the name so I looked it up in my database and
I am related to Maria Felicia do Coracao de Jesus. She is a first cousin
four times removed from me. I attached a chart that shows the relationships,
ending with my mother, Doris Gonsalves.

Basically, I think that Maria’s grandparents are my fourth
great-grandparents. My data is also from NEPS and I haven’t yet located the
original records. You did not mention your relationship to Maria Felicia do
Coracao de Jesus. Maybe we are related. My ancestors on my mother’s side
immigrated to California, primarily in San Leandro.

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Could someone explain what this means, please?

Hi all,

I was looking at the NEPS site for info on my ancestors. I was working on
Maria Felicia do Coracao de Jesus, born in 1826 in Feteira, Faial. Here
parents were listed as Jose Francisco de Azevedo (born 1801) and Ana Felicia
de Jesus (born 1806). She married Jose Francisco Martins(born 1828) and
they had five children:

1) Maria Felicia

2) Ana

3) Manuel

4) Joao Francisco

5) Rosa

At the bottom of the NEPS page I was examining was a note regarding the
yellow highlighted name (above) :

* No registo de nascimento (baptismo) da filha Maria, o padre diz que
a
baptizanda era filha de Ana Inácia ou seja o nome da sogra da Maria e avó
paterna da baptizanda!!!

Google Translate says the English version is:

* The registration of birth (baptism) daughter of Maria, father says
baptizanda was the daughter of Ana Ignacia ie the name of Mary's mother and
grandmother father of baptizanda!

I'm not sure if I'm just too new to know the meaning of the translation or
the translation is a bit off. Any explanation about the meaning of this
phrase would be appreciated. Thanks.
