[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: DNA Matches to Mexico

2014-03-16 Thread Antonio Faria
Manny I have looked a little closer at my family tree I descend from
Baltazar Vieira through his son Manuel Vieira de Faria. Chances are you
descend from the other son Francisco Vieira de Faria who Married Maria da
Rosa April 27, 1643 in Sao Roque Pico, but it appear that he moved back to
Sao Mateus after getting married and the records don't go back as far in
that village. But you would know for sure if you tested your y dna if we
came back a match.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: DNA Matches to Mexico

2014-03-10 Thread Antonio Faria
Manny, I suspect we descend from the same person, the reason I'm able to
trace my ancestry further than you is because my ancestor moved to Sao
Roque and the records there
trace back further.

2014-03-09 Thread Manuel Martins
Antonio,

Interesting, I have a match in Mexico too, I'm getting further DNA
analysis. I have a Baltazar Vieira d. 1706 from Sao Mateus, obvious a few
year after the Baltazar you mentioned. Is my Baltazar in you tree? My
mother's grandfather was from Sao Mateus.

Best,

That would be great. When I have contacted people they say I haven't
received a match from you. Then I have to explain I was not the actual
person who took the test. I honestly don't remember how I did it it was

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: DNA MATCHES!

2012-09-16 Thread Cheri Mello
When the family genealogist tests a family member for that DNA line, they
are the proxy. I always tell the proxy to put the name of the testee, then
address line 1 c/o their name, then their address, their phone, their email.

I've noticed some people getting creative though. Some of the matches are
coming in and the proxies have changed the names. Let's pretend John Smith
tested his DNA.
First Name: John
Last name: Smith

What they are doing now:
First Name: John Smith
Last name: c/o Jenny Jones

So your matches page does not read your match is John Smith. It says: John
Smith c/o Jenny Jones.

I will ask at the DNA conference if there is anyway to update the contact
form when a proxy is handling the DNA so their contact stuff is the once
that goes to the matches page.

2012-09-16 Thread Pam Santos
I think I mentioned this before but I could be wrong. I will see when I
order my Uncle's Family Tree finder on my mom's side in a week to see if it
only shows the persons email who paid for it or the person who actually
took the test. If it has the person who took the test, sometimes they may
not respond because they do not do genealogy. I have had several distant
relatives tested that only tested to help but do not know anything about
the genealogy that goes along with it. Just a thought.

Must endorse my cousin Sam. We have been searching for decades. Why those
who are interested enough to post DNA results are so adverse to sharing
other family info is a complete mystery to me. To do one without the other is a
mark of (tempted to say ignorance) what else? There can be no other
rationale that I can discern. Please grant us (who may be your undiscovered
cousins) some idea as to why you fail to post your Gedcom Signed,
perplexed.

As others have stated, unfortunately many people though they have done the

Pretty difficult to find the connection without both parties having a tree

2012-09-16 Thread BaltarFamily
Hi Judy,

I have my mtdna for about 2 year, its on Ancestry, although originally
was done at Sorenson. My maternal family is all from Azores and I
never was contacted by anyone. Wish I heard from someone.
