[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Lucille in Portuguese
Sam, I check my database on Portuguese Names and Their Meanings for the name LUCILLE and did not fine it. But I did find LUCILA. See below. I hope this might help with your research. Eugenia = Lucila - Feminine Lucila - This is a name commonly used in Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese. Given name. Information is from: BASIC PORTUGUESE PALEOGRAPHY, The Genealogical Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Series II, No., 20, 1978, page 24. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ To unsubscribe from this group, send email to azores+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. Joao, Thank you for this explanation. There indeed was a Luzia far back on my grandfather's side. I will now have to check and see if I find a Luzia, Lucia, Lucilla or Lucila on my grandmother's side as well. Interesting that they should decide to pass this name down as a middle name some 10 or so generations later.
