[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: More info on DNA

I am interested in participating in the azores DNA project. For the
most part, my paternal line can be traced back to the northwest part
of Sao Miguel(my paternal great-grandmother came from Madeira though.)

What would be the best test for me to take?(and how long should I
study before tkaing the test? --- sorry old podagee joke ;-))

The 37 marker (or more) is the best for your paternal (Y) DNA.  The mtDNA
Plus test is best for the strict maternal line, although mtDNA tends to be
more anthropological in nature.  They do have combination test kits where
they will test both Y and mtDNA lines.

Nothing wrong with starting off with 12 markers either and then upgrading as
the family budget allows.  It costs a little bit more that way in the long
run.  Something like $30 more.
