Yeah I only know Spanish, and to me its is very similar (writing not speaking) I had gone thru Spanish/Latin Church records for years before attempting to look at the Portuguese records. Stupid on my part, I could of been done with this all years ago!! (I started back in 1996) But I had it in my mind that it was going to be extremely hard to read the Portuguese records. I need help with the marriage record below (Francisco ??? and Roza Francisca - top left record). http:// culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/FAL-HT-FLAMENGOS-C-1722-1758/FAL-HT-FLAMENGOS-C-1722-1758_item1/P95.html I am having trouble with the grooms name in the top left margin (I can make out Francisco; but not the rest of it). I read in the document that he is Francisco ?? son of paid incognito and Geronima Sylviera. The bride is the daughter of Pedro Dutra and Agada Pereira? I read the date as ?? April 1741? Any help is greatly appreciated. Lee E, I took Spanish in high school because Portuguese wasn't offered. Although some words are vastly different (son = hijo = filho), the structure is very similar, so it really helped.
