RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Golden State Killer Caught with DNA
This is an article form the blog Legal Genealogist on this subject. http://www.legalgenealogist.com/2018/04/29/the-bull-in-the-dna-china-shop/ Thinking more about this The use of DNA is becoming more wide spread and is approaching the use of finger prints for identity. When I joined the military in 1965 we were finger printed and that was kept on file as a positive way of identifying a person. Somewhere all the finger print cards for persons that served in the military going back prior to WW II are kept. Today when you join the military not only are your fingerprints recorded but you provide your DNA. Persons convicted of a crime now give their DNA. My sister told me that when she started school back in the early 60’s all the kids were finger printed. In most places new born babies are foot printed at the hospital. Is a day coming when we not only finger print but also DNA Test? Is the use of DNA for our good or detriment just as the finger print is used today? Just another thing to think about. This has been a 24 7 news story here in Auburn, and the communities are happy he is now behind bars.
