One thing that has helped me do that more easily is that I put direct line NAMES to me and my husband ALL IN CAPS. This makes it easier to see who is in the direct line and who are peripheral lines. It took me a whole summer to change the names I had to this way of identifying the direct lines; however, it has saved me so much time since then. You can see that you can pick out those in CA[S more quickly. Another thing I did was set up my index of names with first names first. Again, this makes it possible for me to see all the Jose or Manuel names in a row. I can more easily pick out the confusing surnames more quickly. Again, it took time to make this change and again, it has saved so much time since I did that. It makes the combination of compound names easier to find. Marcio You might want to try the following to get a direct line of descents in FTM 12 Choose the top most person you want for the report. Go to publish. Under Publish Type choose: Relationship Reports Then choose: Outline Descendancy Report. Let it generate the report with everyone in it. AFTER it creates that report: Click on the drop down menu on the right that says descendants. YOUR name should be in the box if you are listed at the home person. Click on your name. A new report will automatically run and you should have the information you want. You can also make other changes to the report. Anyway, that's what I do. Pam, TMG (The Master Genealogist) does it. I think Legacy too. I'm not sure if you use a Focus Groupor a Filter to get what you want. I would think FTM does it too, but I don't know if their little feature is called a Focus Group or not. Someone would have to look in the Help file. I had the same question, what I did was save the whole report. I went to relationship report, then Outline descendant report. Saved it opened it up in Microsoft WORD, or any word processor and deleted everything other than my direct line. You would think there would be a way to just do direct relationship. I have not found it. So if anyone does know a different way please share. Marcio, I do the deleting of each sibling, the old fashion way once I have a copy of the line in Word. One thing that has helped me do that more easily is that I put direct line NAMES to me and my husband ALL IN CAPS. This makes it easier to see who is in the direct line and who are peripheral lines. It took me a whole summer to change the names I had to this way of identifying the direct lines; however, it has saved me so much time since then. You can see that you can pick out those in CA[S more quickly. Another thing I did was set up my index of names with first names first. Again, this makes it possible for me to see all the Jose or Manuel names in a row. I can more easily pick out the confusing surnames more quickly. Again, it took time to make this change and again, it has saved so much time since I did that. It makes the combination of compound names easier to find. Hope this helps.
